This is a beautifully restored building and we were very happy to be staying here. The refurbishment is an architectural feat and the building bears no comparison with the other riverside hotels which are quite ugly and functional. It is also ideally located for all the main sites of Budapest. The staff were professional and helpful and we had a lovely (albeit quite small) room on the fifth floor overlooking the river and Chain Bridge. It even had its own little balcony. The breakfast was great with a good choice of fruit, yoghurts and local pastries. Also an amazing array of honeys! Cooked breakfast was extra but I believe some packages included this. We had dinner one evening here (which we wouldn`t normallly). It could not be faulted and there were many people coming in to eat from other hotels as it is obviously a good choice. If you have the chance to go to the holocaust museum and the synagogue while in Budapest, I thoroughly recommend these as well as the big market hall along the river. The parliament building is astounding as is the opera. The Academy of Sciences has an interesting collection of art not always open to the public.

Room Tip: The rooms on the fifth floor have amazing views but the rooms on the third floor have higher ceiling...

Thank you so much for choosing Four Seasons Gresham Palace for your recent stay in Budapest. I was delighted to read that you took great pleasure in the décor and architecture of the Palace, the result of a careful restoration of this beautiful building. Thank you also for mentioning the delicious dinner, the abundant breakfast buffet and honey selection that you got to enjoy, along with our staff professionalism and courteousness.

It is great to read that during your visit to Budapest you also managed to discover so much of what Budapest has to offer. I am sure many who plan to visit this beautiful city will find your review a valuable source of information.

Having lived in Budapest some 25 years earlier, it was with delight that my wife and I returned to Budapest and were fortunate enough to stay in the Four Seasons Gresham Palace Budapest. First of all, the location can't be beat: Smack at the end of Lanchid or "Chain Bridge" on the Pest side. One can walk to practically every site in the city from the hotel.

Even if you do not stay here, make certain to visit the hotel if only to see the lobby and ornate staircases, both faithfully restored to the turn-of-the-century original. The restaurant looks good and the lobby lounge is a pleasant venue to enjoy a tea and one of the city's finest pastries.

Rooms are somewhat pedestrian considering the grand public space: simple yellow walls, rich carpets and four fixture marble bathrooms. A number of rooms are interior facing, into smallish courtyards which precludes leaving your windows open. Only a fraction of the rooms face the Danube (the Duna) but as the hotel is only 6-7 stories tall, it may not be worth the extra for the view (though at night it is spectacular looking up to Castle Hill.)

Prices are international standard, which basically mean, about double to triple comparable fine food restaurants around town. The concierge is very knowledgeable and I recommend working with them for restaurant recommendations.

During the few days that we were there, a Central Asian government official (PM, President, Dictator?) was also in residence on our floor and this meant the presence of two thuggish goons in the hallway 24 hours a day.

The Spa is on the top floor of the hotel and includes a small pool with pleasant lighting and interesting unisex sauna. As Budapest is a city of spas and baths, the one at the Four Seasons is fine for a swim or a relaxing massage, but more authentic experiences can be found around the city.

Room Tip: Be very careful when reserving if you do not want an interior facing room. While some of these are l...

We stayed at this very luxurious hotel for 3 days, prior to taking the Viking river cruise to Amsterdam. It is one of those magical and special places that will stay with you for a long time. The rooms, the service and the hotel ambience are quite something. The location along the river and to city sights are just prefect.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room on the third floor facing the Danube River and the Chain Bridge.

The Gresham Palace is the most beautiful hotel in Budapest and the rest of Central Europe. One of the best managed, if that is possible, of the Four Seasons chain. Excellent Hungarian restaurant, perfect central River location .... what more can you ask.

Room Tip: River view most desirable.

I used the hotel and the meeting facilities and treated myself with a massage on a friday afternoon before going to the airpot. The hotel is a beautiful historical building very well restored, rooms are big enough as the bathrooms, most importantly they are very quiet and the air conditioning is not noisy, for a change.
Meeting rooms are equally well designed and functional.
A special mention goes for the Spa, really excellent facility and professional service, the only remark would be about the price which you would expect to be lower in Budapest than say the mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong or the Westin Palace in Milan.
