Owner description: The final resting place for fallen Communist statues, including those of Lenin, Marx and Engels, plus memorial plaques that were removed after the downfall of the Communist regime.

We stopped here on the way out of town and enjoyed our 30 minutes alone with these giant statues. It says it doesn't open until 10am but we got there at 9:25am and we're let right in. It costs 1,500 FT to get in but it's worth it. We had fun posing and taking pictures. I would not go out of your way to see this since it is about a 20 min drive from the center of the city, however, since we had our own car it was a good side trip.

Thank Tia J

I bought the guide book and spent a highly enjoyable hour walking around the park and learning about Hungary's communist past. The attraction was very well thought-out and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in history.

Coming from an ex-Communist country myself, it was quite interesting to visit this place. It's incredible to see how Communist statues favored size over beauty, somehow.
We went there by car, on a winter day, with pretty heavy snow (which made it even creepier).
The Trabant car, as well as the phone which allows you to hear fragments of speeches from the world's biggest dictators, are nice touches, too.
A very interesting trip, indeed. I'll probably do it again in the summer, at some point.

Dear BogdanOradea

Thank you for your review, we are pleased to read that you enjoyed your visit at Memento Park.
What you saw regarding the sizes of some statues is exactly what we wanted to represent to people who honor us with their visit to the park.
We appreciate the fact that you still made the effort and came despite the heavy snow which indeed does give the park a special atmosphere.
Great photos!
We look forward to welcoming you again in the summer

Nice, even if we had expected memento to be more like a historic junkyard, with more statues just being dumped there, a bit more adventurous and chaotic. But we had a nice trip. & it's an interesting place, even or especially when it's snowing. Use public transport, it's always the more interesting option!

Outside of the city is this statue park where all of the Communist art is placed far enough away not to provoke the raw emotion of the horror but all together to appreciate the efforts involved. Easy parking but bring your own literature or a guide as there is little on sight to enlighten the background stories. There is a bathroom and a kitchy communist souvenier shop.
