This place is worth walking through on your way to the park if you are here on a short visit. Take pictures of the cool statues and the lovely mosaics on the museums that border the square. The square really shines when there is an event on, however. I was just there for the national horse racing event weekend (happens in Sept every year). The square itself is sectioned off and turned into a racecourse (you need to buy a ticket for that) but you can see bits and pieces through the stands. The cool thing is that there are stands with food, drink and crafts all around it as well as buskers, costumed people and floats. This is free to walk around in and enjoy and it stretches up the main street leading in (close off for cars that weekend) which is all very pleasant and exciting.
