HUGE when you get close up, interesting to wander round, easily accessibly via metro and close to city park for a nice wander

One of the main attractions that Budapest has to offer. It’s quite a walk from the city center, but the street from the center to the square is a very nice one as there are many big and classical looking buildings along the way so you’ll have plenty to see. The first part also has lots of shops and cafés in case you fancy stopping for a drink along the way. The statues are nice to see and the square itself offers a starting point for the nearby zoo and ‘castle’ (which reminded me of these classical fairy tale castles).
In case you don’t want to walk to the square and are already doing (or planning to do) the tourist sites, buy a ticket for one of the hop-on/hop-off busses.

I didn't dare miss one of the World Heritage sites, Heroes' Square. It is a spacious area with important significance to Hungarian history.
It is between the Museum of Fine Arts and the Art Gallery, which I unfortunately did not have time to visit. It is within walking distance from Budapest zoo.

We approached Heroes square from Andrassy Bvl. The tall milleniumn column and the Victory bronze dominate the sky. Lower down there is a plain stone tomb for the unknown soldier and a massive stone pedestal displaying named bronze horsemen who figured in Hungarian history. The backdrop to the square are opposing plinth and column displays figuring the kings and statesmen of Hungary.
These two imposing backdrops are themselves topped with enormous bronze chariots and liberty figures. A stunning and majestic display of liberty and nationalism. This square is a must see for tourists.

Avoid buying the clothing offered for sale in heroes square. One wash and and the garment shrinks excessively.

Its a memorial building, so i guess theres no graves around, i dont really enjoy visiting this site, compare to the pallace and the parliament building, i prefer their architecture rather than this one
