This open space with the statues and monuments looked wonderful under a clear blue sky. It's located right at the end of Andrassy Avenue so we took the metro down there and, after enjoying the square itself wandered down Andrassy Ave for lunch near Oktogon. There's also an excellent art gallery at heroes Sq and (in winter) an open air skating rink. It's very close to the Szechenyi baths.

Colossal Square with the monument's "Heroes' Square. Probably the most interesting square in Budapest, placed at the end of Andrássy Avenue, often called 'Avenue of culture', due to the many cultural attractions that it settle, among which the most famous opera.
Millennium Square is dominated by a monument, so named to mark the millennium of Hungarian immigration. However, it is fully completed until the 1929th when it got its present name.
The monuments are seven statues of tribal leaders and many other historical figures, among others, Stephen King, Bela IV., Matthias Corvinus and Lajos Kossuth. Occupies the central part of the monument 36 feet tall Corinthian column, topped by a statue of the archangel Gabriel. At the foot of the tomb of the unknown soldier.
The Heroes' Square (Hősök tere), on its side, there are two major museums - the Museum of Fine Arts (Szépmûvészeti, www.szepmuveszeti.hu) and the Museum of Contemporary Art (Műcsarnok, www.mucsarnok.hu), and near the Zoo.

In the center of Heroes' Square, which closed 2.5-kilometer avenue is a giant monument "Millennium of Hungary" (architect A.Schickedanz , sculptor György Zala). Center of the composition of the monument is 118 feet tall column with the figure of the Archangel Gabriel on the top. At its base the bronze statues of the leaders of seven Hungarian tribes. Between the columns of a semicircular colonnade statues of kings, princes and great men of Hungary. Colonnade decorated with symbolic figures of Labour and Welfare, War (left Colonnade), Peace, Honor and Glory (Right Colonnade).
