“The chain bridge”
Reviewed November 27, 2012 via mobile

I took a tour while in Budapest and found out that someone (sorry forgotten the name) who lived in Buda wanted to go and see his sick father in Vienna but the river had frozen, by the time he got to his dad he had died to decided to build a bridge and hired. Scottish man and bought iron from London and built the chain bridge

“Another Bridge”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

The chain bridge is a big thing in Budapest, being the first permanent bridge, replacing an earlier pontoon bridge, taken away each winter because of ice on the river. It looks quite solid and substantial, but in the end is now just another busy river crossing ( expect some days in the summer when it becomes traffic free).

Lovely Lions keep watch at this bridge. Beautiful architecture. We saw this from the bus and close up when we crossed it at night. Nice walking area. No fear of traffic.
