“Incredible site just on the Danube River”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

Forget the palace in Budapest and concentrate on Parliament. The building rivals most palaces in other major cities and is breathtaking from the Danube on an evening cruise. There was a lot of construction surrounding the site so we were never able to visit inside; however, you will need advance reservations if you want to visit.

“Great, but pay attention to the practicalities”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

The guided tour is great, the building inside is fantastic and you get to see the crown, the guards, the parliament chambers, etc.
Be aware that while it doesn't say on their site, if you're from an EU country and carry proof (ID card or passport), you pay less. Also, better if you don't try to go on Mondays: the queues are always bigger since not many attractions are open on Mondays.
They only sell tickets for the day, you can't buy in advance. There's a site online where you can buy the ticket, but you need to be able to print is and they charge an admin fee. I used that site before leaving the hotel to check if there were still places available around the time I wanted, and then bought the ticket right there, no fee.

“The wonderful symbol of the city.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

No doubt it is the symbol of the city, to admire this wonderful and impressive architectural work I think the best point is above up on the castle hill, between the bastions placed exactly in front of the Parliament.
The view is great and it gives an exciting panoramic view of the entire parliament, the Danube and much of the city.
The night with the city lights the Parliament takes on a fairy-tale atmosphere.

“Magnificent building”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2013

We booked our tickets online and waited on a hot day at the edge of a building site for our tour leader. Once inside, we were given enough information to satisfy our curiosity about this stunning building which is currently being renovated. Well worth a visit and it will be even better once the refurbishment is done and the gardens are reinstated.

“mb next time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2013

There is a huge renovation going on there. You can enter the building (somehow, according to the tour guide we asked) but walking around it is out of the question. We were enjoying the view from both the boat tour and from the hill on the Pest side of the city. Going from the chain bride towards the Parliament you will find "The shoes".
Hopefully next time we visit we will be able to see more of it.
