Visited here this week as part of the great 'Hop on Hop off' bus trip. A beautiful building. Lots of history, and accounts of the holocaust. For us, as Jehovah's Witnesses, seeing God's Name on the main altar decoration was more thrilling than I can put into words. Made the visit all the more special.

The synagogue was a truly stunning building, and although it seemed quite expensive, we were happy to enter it for the price. The surrounding gardens and memorial were both poignant, and should be visited. Our only gripe was that unlike those in other languages, the English guides were never on time for the advertised slot - we missed two before giving up and leaving, meaning we weren't able to fully appreciate the site.

Fabulous building from the outside and very impressive inside. The English guided tour was very informative. The Weeping Willow Holocaust Memorial, with its many names inscribed on the leaves, is a very moving tribute to the millions who lost their lives.

Beautiful synagogue, accompanied by a graveyard (unusual in the Jewish faith to locate it right next to a synagogue), a Jewish museum and a holocaust memorial. I learned a lot about the Jewish faith and Jewish history here, especially the history of Budapest's Jews during World War II. Our guide at the Jewish museum was a man who had lived through the war there, and hidden in a Swedish-sponsored safe house during the war.

The entry fee was quite expensive and whilst the guys at the gate were pleasant, the ticket seller was quite surly as were the girls standing at the door. Inside the synagogue was actually rather peaceful and the information about the memorial garden was very interesting. You can access the Holocaust Cemetery, and the Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Park here which are incredibly moving and a must for quiet reflection on the past.
