Owner description: Used over the centuries as a coronation church for the Hungarian kings, the slender and graceful architecture of this beautiful church dominates the main square of the Castle area.

This is a beautiful church, which also houses a number of excellent exhibits of historical artefacts associated with the church, royalty and the state.
At present the building is undergoing a major renovation project and much of the building is closed, so the entrance ticket only gets you a very small glimpse of what the final majesty will be. I look forward to returning in future once the renovation is completed.

The roof, even though it is not the original one it really stays in your mind as a colorful memory. Visiting inside it was a nice experience, nevertheless there can be more info for the english speakers.

Even if the church is in renovation, you are charged the same as when you could get a visit inside, in all its glory...
The exterior of the church is impressive and beautiful, but.. that is all!

We walked past the church during the day and also at night and I have to say it looks better in the evening with all the lights on, such a beautiful church

I'm not a fan of paying admission to visit a Church and light a candle. I do appreciate the need for upkeep and tourist visits for a fee are an asset. Two sides of the issue of admission.

I went to Mass on Sunday. I went in with a local older lady who got off the bus with me. The guy at the door didn't stop me entering with her. Other tourists who said they wanted to go to Mass were denied entry.

It's a lovely building but a large part of it is under restoration and closed off. Get their on time for a seat for Mass. You stand at the back and don't see anything otherwise thanks to the restoration.

If you need to find a clean free toilet and are dressed properly you can enter the Hilton hotel just down from the Church. Otherwise it's a 150 HUF pay toilet fee at the Castle.

Bus 16 takes you to the Church from the Red line metro station. Save your money and forget the expensive funicular route and long line ups for the funicular to get up the hill.
