“Architecture at its best”

The roof, even though it is not the original one it really stays in your mind as a colorful memory. Visiting inside it was a nice experience, nevertheless there can be more info for the english speakers.

“Just outside...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

Even if the church is in renovation, you are charged the same as when you could get a visit inside, in all its glory...
The exterior of the church is impressive and beautiful, but.. that is all!

“mass was lovely”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2012

I'm not a fan of paying admission to visit a Church and light a candle. I do appreciate the need for upkeep and tourist visits for a fee are an asset. Two sides of the issue of admission.

I went to Mass on Sunday. I went in with a local older lady who got off the bus with me. The guy at the door didn't stop me entering with her. Other tourists who said they wanted to go to Mass were denied entry.

It's a lovely building but a large part of it is under restoration and closed off. Get their on time for a seat for Mass. You stand at the back and don't see anything otherwise thanks to the restoration.

If you need to find a clean free toilet and are dressed properly you can enter the Hilton hotel just down from the Church. Otherwise it's a 150 HUF pay toilet fee at the Castle.

Bus 16 takes you to the Church from the Red line metro station. Save your money and forget the expensive funicular route and long line ups for the funicular to get up the hill.

“Beautiful building”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2012

An absolutely amazing building on the outside. Could not stop taking pictures of it and don't think I missed a single angle.
Very dissapointing though when you pay for an entry ticket only to find two thirds of it closed off for restoration and you get to see so little of it. They don't tell you this when you are buying the tickets. Otherwise, well worth the visit.
