“Magnificent collection of Hungarian art”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

This gallery is filled with art produced by Hungarian artists over the last thousand years. Most of the artists are not well-known internationally, which makes it a unique and interesting experience. The highlight for me was the section of medieval altarpieces on the first floor, all extremely well-preserved and beautiful to contemplate.

My only criticism of the gallery would be the lack of explanatory labels - for people who don't speak Hungarian, the only information given is the painting's title. This makes it difficult to interpret many works, particularly those commemorating historical events.

“Very Interesting”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

The works of art are wide and varied. I am almost certain that we missed maybe a quarter of what was on show and this was partly due to our lack of time but also the way in which some areas are laid out. This just gives us an excuse to come back to this wonderful city!

“A beautiful building.”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Located on Gellért hill, this beautiful building is actually a part of Buda castle.
The numerous exhibitions inside it are almost as impressive as the building itself.
Give yourself at least 2 hours to explore it and another hour simply to walk around it and admire its beauty.

“Nice to meet new artists”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

This museum had some great art by people I knew nothing about, for example Karóly Lotz. Much better art and presentation of the art than the Fine Arts museum.
