This gallery is filled with art produced by Hungarian artists over the last thousand years. Most of the artists are not well-known internationally, which makes it a unique and interesting experience. The highlight for me was the section of medieval altarpieces on the first floor, all extremely well-preserved and beautiful to contemplate.
My only criticism of the gallery would be the lack of explanatory labels - for people who don't speak Hungarian, the only information given is the painting's title. This makes it difficult to interpret many works, particularly those commemorating historical events.
