A excellent place to visit and free entry. Enjoyed exploring the refurbished buildings and the monuments and statues and amazing views looking over the Danube River.

Freida Kahloe exhibit was there. I walked up, you can that a elevator but the line is usually long. I'd never been to Budapest, loved it.

Buda Castle or the Royal Palace is situated on Castle Hill on the Buda side. Lovely buildings and amazing views of the Danube and Pest. A must see. All lit up at night.

What you see outside is not the original castle but a palace, however there are ruins under the palace of real age. This an excellent museum with a lot of info about the area from prehistoric, Roman, medieval to Renaissance times. There are many artefacts and info is in english but very little interactive displays.
The layout is quite confusing but it was very interesting anyway. There was a area about very recent archeological excavations which had uncovered new finds, which was very good. There are plenty of seats to rest on and toilets.
We had free entry as we had a ticket from Aquinicum Roman town which also includes entry here.

A good castle from exterior . Interior is almost closed exceythe museum .
A great opportunity to click fantastic pics of the danube and its bridges .
Walk to fisherman’s monument is good .
Visit in evening and watch the sunset change your perception of danube in dark .

We took a family trip this summer, and this castle was on the list as a must-see. It is an impressive castle, built high up. The day we were there, the elevator was broken, but we were able to walk up a combination of steps and ramps to get to the top. Try a local walking tour with a guide to get the most of your visit.

Buda Castle is a lovely, impressive palace on Buda Hill. You can get up to the castle by a funicular if you do wish but I walked up. The palace houses several museums. There are spectacular views of the Danube and the Parliament from Buda hill. It was a very enjoyable walk indeed admiring the many old and charming buildings and churches on Buda hill beyond the palace.

A visit to Castle Hill is a must when one visits Budapest. It is easily accessible, take a metro to Deak Ferenc metro stop. From there hop on Bus no 16. This bus could take you to the furnicular ride (stop at Clark Adam Ter) or if you want to access Castle Hill for Buda Castle, Royal Castle, St Matthias' Cathedral and Fisherman Bastion, then let this bus take you all the way up. It's that easy. If you want night shots of Buda Castle and Szechenyi Bridge, then take bus 16 from Deak Ferenc to Sezchenyi Ter and get shots like below.
