This is *the* place you must not miss. I don't know if there's another way up, but take the funicular, which is a nice trip up and not too expensive, to my recollection.

The castle is massive and you'll not only profit from its marvellous architecture but also from the views of the city.

It's the best place for those who are interested in museums, and history. The fees were a bit expensive, but it worth it!

Number one place to visit in town is royal palace. Just before the sun sets down, walk over the chain bridge and take the funicular up to the palace. You will be amazed by the views, especially during the lighting of the bridge and all the monuments. It is a sample of the beauty of the city. You can enjoy a drink or dinner on the restaurant located at the place. Just remember. The funicular closes at 22:00 (during summer), so don't be late.

There isn't much to see of the former castle/palace other than the exteriors and a few museums (all of which were closed on my visit), but the architecture of the buildings is worth a look from the outside in itself, and perhaps the biggest attraction here is that it has one of the best views of Pest.

Check out the guy with the huge falcon skulking in the ramparts! Terrific views and lovely precinct. Self- service restaurant back from castle across little park is very good value - nice salad bar, a blessed relief in 39 degree heat.
