Owner description: Built during the 19th century for the Hungarian Millennium celebrations, this mock bastion features pointed towers and turrets, reminiscent of the fairytale castles in Disney World.

Fantastic piece of architecture, just not as old as you might expect. It was build at the end of the 19th- beginning 20th century, with neo-romanesque architecture in mind. It's placed near the Matthias church, which gives it the perfect entourage. There is a restaurant and a bar within the towers of the bastion and in the summer you can sit at the terrace of the bastion. Several stories are told about the name of the bastion...One of them is that in older times fishermen used to guard this part of the castle hill. The views are amazing and the building itself is best seen at night, descent from the stairs of the bastion and look up for some amazing pictures as well!

Wonderful place to take pics of the city (I just hope it's not foggy as it was when we were there). Allow plenty of time to just look around.

Excellent views over the Danube and the opposite Pest side of the river. The view of Parliament is unrivalled. Visit at night and first thing in the morning for that perfect atmospheric shot.

Amazing place to visit, especially when there is a sunny day! Amazing viewson the Budapest, perfect for a long walk! There is a great cafeteria just next to it, so you can have a warm chocolate after walk, just like i did! A must in Budapest with all castle area.
