“Gigantic! Not in a good way!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2011

Bad exhbition! Most of it isn't in english, its way too big baddly done the organization. Lots of uniforms, The only good thing if you like it. Has the potencial but it doesnt work. The staff only speaks hungarian and is afraid you take something from The glass cabinets. Its not cheap and you have to pay An. Extra ticket to take photos.

“Interesting but surly staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2010

The only pleasent person working there was the girl on the cash desk .This Museum is no longer free. I don't know where they get these people from but they are so miserable every one else in Budapest was so friendly. Lots to see in here all quite interesting, alot of it now is in English. We went in just before16:00 knowing it closed at 18:00 but 20 mins before closing time they started herding everone out so they could stand around chatting .Only worth visiting if your into Hungarian Military History.A good display about the 1956 uprising. One last point , you have to put bags in the cloakroom, take out valuables as my 8gb spare SDH wasn't in my rucksack when I checked the following morning.

“No longer free, and not that much to see”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2008

It's no longer free -- and costs extra if you want to photograph anything. None of the staff speaks any English, and a few of them seemed like Cold War bureaucrat holdovers...if you know what I mean. There are two or three interesting rooms if you're into militaria, but for the most part it's not worth spending more than a few minutes -- a couple of interesting uniforms and the cockpit from a fighter plane are all that I thought were worth seeing. If I had it to do over again, I'd skip.

“For military passionate only”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2007

I liked this museum, since it has quite a large display of items from uniforms to weaponry.

However, you have to try to guess what the items on display are since the information is just in Hungarian.

Please note, that also the staff speak little if any English. SO, many of them wouldn't be of great assistence neither

“Translation please”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2005

Free to get in, but the vast majority of exhibits do not have English labelling, so unless you read Hungarian it's a case of looking at the pretty displays and making up the story yourself.
