Owner description: Lovingly restored after being reduced to rubble during World War II, this picturesque area is located in the heart of medieval Budapest, which is characterized by cobblestone streets, narrow alleys and lovely squares surrounded by baroque and classical buildings.

Easy to access from Chain Bridge and then the Siklo, great views of the river and Pest side of Budapest from the top.
You can easily spend all day at Varhegy walking around all it has to offer; castle, labyrinth, cafes, St. Mathias church, Fishermans Bastion, Hospital in the Rock (although this was approx £11 entrance fee - tours on the hour)

Well worth a trip up here if only for the view! There is plenty to fill a day here including great restaurants and market stalls (maybe only in December)

We went luckily during the changing of the guards at the palace and it was quite a show they put on. The views from the palace are great across to past and all for free

There is so much to see here. Just start at Buda Castle and walk your way through to Fisherman's Bastion. It's a beautiful walk with many interesting places to see along the way. There's Sándor Palace, the National Dance Theater, Mathias Church, as well as many other interesting buildings of historical significance. A building that was once the Ministry of War is now an empty shell, but still shows the bullet holes from WWII. There's even a nice park where you can sit, relax, and soak in the scenery around you. You'll be rewarded at the end when you get to the Holy Trinity Square. The amazing & beautiful Matthias Church coupled with the stunning views of the Danube from the terrace of Fisherman's Bastion make it all worth the effort. It's totally worth it.

Liked: Overwhelming view over Danube, fairytale atmosphere! The best pictures of Parliament and Pest must be taken here. Walk around - amazing restaurants and cafes with a good service. It takes around 10-15 min from Vaci ut. to get there, so the Hill is good even for a short stay in Budapest.
Disliked: I tried to remember some wake sides, but it hasn't.
