Owner description: Lovingly restored after being reduced to rubble during World War II, this picturesque area is located in the heart of medieval Budapest, which is characterized by cobblestone streets, narrow alleys and lovely squares surrounded by baroque and classical buildings.

“magnificent views and cobbled streets”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

This has to be the best part of Budapest. The castle and the cathedral to the military barracks. Lovely streets with magnificent views over looking Pest across the Danube, and on the other side the rolling hills of Buda. Don't miss the chance to see the old hospital/bunker in the caves beneath. The finicular is overpriced for the tiny ride. Walk along the street a bit and take the steps that bring you out near the castle or catch the bus.

“Lots of Variety”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

Used the bus to get up to the castle and wandered using Rick Steeves Eastern Europe book as a guide. Went from here to the cathedral and the Fisherman's Bastion so there was lots of walking.

“One of the great views of the city”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

I believe the Castle Hill is the second best place places to view the city, only after the Gellert Hill. Going there at night allows you to experience the beauty of Budapest. You may as well stay a while and check the guards change, it's an interesting tradition.

“Should be No1 on "Things to Do"”
Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

We caught the furnicular up to the castle and walked around the old streets, the Fishermans Bastion with its marvelous view across to Pest and the Parliament buildings in particular, the Matayas Church (under significant renovation but still impressive) and back to the National Gallery. This all took a long morning but absolutely worth it

“Fantastic Views”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

On the day we visited we could not access all of the Castle area as it was being used for location filming. However, well worth a visit the views are spectacular and the buildings are amazing. Lovely bar/cafe at the top with beautiful views.
