Owner description: Lovingly restored after being reduced to rubble during World War II, this picturesque area is located in the heart of medieval Budapest, which is characterized by cobblestone streets, narrow alleys and lovely squares surrounded by baroque and classical buildings.

Nice sightseeing and not hard to do. Pretty view from top.
At noon you can assist to change of the guard. From the top you can enjoy spectacular sight of Danube and bridges.

Thank Stefano K

The hill is an excellent place to have an overview of Budapest and Danube but I think that the Budapest and Danube landscape is more spectacular from Citadella hill. However, the hill resemble a mini town and there are many architectural building which must not be missed (Buda castle, Fisherman bastion, Matthias Church).
I found the souvenir shops pretty expensive here (better buy souvenirs in town or from the Citadella hill).

We spent a lovely afternoon sitting on the hillside with a bottle of wine, loaf of bread, and some great cheese. One of two great spots we hit that day to look over all of Budapest.

We went too late in the evening so this may not be a good representation of what was there. There were just buildings to look at. Not much going on. I thought there were be several things to go in and visit and people on the street performing or selling items.

The castle district in Buda is much more peaceful than the bustle of Pest - except that is for the tourists. The views from the Fisherman's Bastion over the Danube are superb and there a quite a few small bars and cafes serving quality, but low cost food.
