I was familiar with this hotel from previous trips to Budapest, but this was my first time staying there. The location is a bit out of the way (for tourists at least), but it is only 2-3 blocks from a subway stop, so it is still quite convenient. You can also easily walk to Heroes Square (Hősok Tere) from there, which is worth the visit. The best thing about the hotel, though, is the great value. I selected the highest priced room they offered and it cost me $61 including a very nice full buffet breakfast. Neither the rooms nor the service match the Kempinsky or Le Meridien on Erzsébet Tér, but the price difference will easily pay for a fancy dinner for two at nearby Baraka or the Tigris (down near the Chain Bridge) including wine. That said, the service was more than adequate for such a budget price, and the room was clean and relatively comfortable. I even had a small (1 meter square) balcony for my exclusive use. Free (wired) internet added to the value proposition.
The neighborhood was quiet and very pleasant ... Benczúr street is one of the few tree-lined streets in the central city, and would have been truly beautiful a few weeks earlier when the leaves were in full color. I would definitely recommend this to solo travelers or couples looking for a quiet and convenient hotel at a value price.More
