It was a pretty nice hotel that we visited. Very nice view, very clean room, very delicious breakfast, very gentle people. Everything was perfect!

Stayed at the Intercontinental Budapest for 3 nights on business. Hotel is not very nice to look at, and laid out in a slightly odd way I thought. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful at all times, which made for a pleasant stay. Bathrooms are tiny and functional rather than luxurious, and the rooms themselves were ok, again without really going the extra yards to be lovely.
Good location, excellent views, slight issue with running the gauntlet of prostitutes outside the hotel at night, but not bad enough to spoil a lovely City and good hotel.

Don't bring your cat because the bathroom is not big enough to swing it in.
The bathroom was tiny but adequately furnished. On the positve side it had one of the strongest power showers I have experienced in any hotel. We upgraded to an upper room with a great view of the river and castle. The room was nicely appointed, comfortable bed, art deco touches, flat screen t.v.
The hotel exterior is pretty ugly but the interior is warm and welcoming with a buzzy lobby and bar area. We didn't eat in the hotel only to have the buffet breakfast which was fine with all the normal suspects. Service was good and the staff were pleasant and efficient. One rankle. You had to phone reception if you wanted an evening turn down! We asked for this and it was a half hearted service. Fresh towels but no tidy up.
I wouldnt say this was the best Intercontinental I have stayed in. The Hong Kong Intercontinental is miles better.
Overall a pleasant enough hotel for a couple of days stay. The location is brilliant. For the best food in budapest eat at The Four Seasons just up the road. We wished we had stayed there.

For our early-autumn trip to the delightful city of Budapest, we pushed the boat out a little by going more up-market than usual. We stayed at the Intercontinental, which was more expensive than our normal choice of hotel, but utterly memorable.
It has a brilliant look-out across both the Danube and the old town of Buda - an ideal starting point for tours by foot or various modes of transport. The staff and food (we were bed and breakfast) were very nice and there was precious little we could find fault with. Unusually, we didn't use the pool but the amenities were well up to standard for a city centre hotel.
We would, however, sound one word of warning. As we climbed into our taxi on our departure, a senior member of staff, having asked us which airline we were flying with and to which airport, told the driver which terminal we required and he dropped us off accordingly half an hour or so later. It was only when we were inside the building that we were told we were at the wrong terminal. In England, this might necessitate a walk of a few hundred yards to put things right. In Budapest, it meant a journey of another three miles or so - one we made on a public bus with our suitcases and other bags.
Although we accept some responsibility for not having double-checked which terminal we required, we felt a little let-down by the hotel employee and the taxi driver for not knowing, between them, where we should have been dropped off. Fortunately, we had time to spare but others, in the same position, might not be so lucky.

The InterContinental Budapest has an ideal location! The hotel is as close as you can get to staying on the banks of the Danube and has the best Danube/Castle/Chain Bridge/Buda view available. The hotel is directly adjacent to the tram. You can purchase tram tickets from the business/travel center in the hotel lobby. You can take the tram along the Danube to get to The Parliament Building, Margaret Island, The Citadel, Gellert Hill, Gellert Spa, Rudas Spa, etc. etc... The hotel is also adjacent to The Chain Bridge (so a nice walk across gets you to the Funacular and a bus to the Castle area). Also, the hotel is adjacent to restaurants along the promenade and the boat restaurants on the Danube (best to take the walkway under the tram line to the left of the hotel to get to the river restaurants). The hotel is very near to St. Stephen's Basilica, Vaci Utca where there is a subway station. The subway system made it very simple to get around the city as did using the bus system. We could even walk to The Opera House from the hotel. Just a great place to stay for location. The Four Seasons across the way where you'll pay much more for the same location.

The Club Lounge is a pleasant size with window/view seating and 2 free to use computer stations. The concierge and lounge attendants are all very warm in personality and provide attentive service. The concierge gave very good assistance for dining and sightseeing suggestions. They knew our names immediately and always greeted us and addressed us by name! The room could use a love seat or two to make it warmer and more inviting.

The club lounge food available for breakfast was enjoyably European with some local items added. It was perfect for our taste and expectations as breakfast is not a big meal in Europe. Afternoon Tea and evening hors d'oeuvre services were pleasant. These two food services are not meant to be meals so one should not expect a full buffet of food. Just a light pleasant snake. It just makes for a nice break from all the sightseeing and tourist packed eateries. The lounge was never very occupied so it was a serene haven in the late afternoon to enjoy the view with the soothing background music and good cup of tea or espresso!

The club room we were assigned was one level below the club lounge and was connected by a small staircase or elevator. It was a pleasant size. The bed was very comfortable, the sheets crispy clean and in excellent condition. The a/c functioned correctly, the closet/drawer space was plentiful with a good number of hangers. The in-room safe functioned properly. The carpet appeared clean. The TV remote functioned properly. There were no noise issued at all.

The bathroom had a step in tub that was rather high to step over. Would have preferred a walk-in shower. However, the water pressure ample and the temperature was perfect. Nice towels and amenities.

The only issue was that there was a cot in the room when we checked-in. We rolled it into the hallway, but when we returned to the room in the evening we found that housekeeping had put it back into the room. We put it back out in the hall and called hskpg to have them take it away and they did. We saw into other rooms and noticed that they had sofas. We assumed that our sofa was removed to accommodate the cot for another reservation. It would have been nice to have the sofa to relax and look out the window. Yet, we were in the room little so it certainly did not ruin our quality of stay.

We looked at but did not use the hotel pool or spa. The pool was small but nicely furnished and well maintained. The lobby area is very nice. We did find the lobby concierge (older gentleman) to be rather brusque and did provide poor and inaccurate information. The lobby has lots of seating, a nice lounge area and a very nice looking restaurant. The outdoor patio of the restaurant was undoubtedly the nicest we saw anywhere in Budapest. However, we did not eat here as we only ate that focused on local Hungarian cuisine. In fact we were surprised that we did not eat at the hotel restaurant as it has the exact look and feel that we like in a dining establishment.

Overall we found the InterContinental Budapest to be a very warm, comfortable, convenient and hospitable hotel. We would stay again and do recommend it to anyone visiting Budapest.

we were staying somewhere else in Budapest because this place is amazing but pricey, but after doing some research we guessed this would be the best place to watch the Aug 20th fireworks and the red bull race from and booked a castle view room 2 months before we arrived (much to their surprise). we walked into the lovely room and opened the curtains to... WOW!!! a million dollar view can't describe how great it was so you'll have to look at the pictures. only minor complaint was the room service food which was average at best but cost the moon. everything else was superb. one of the best nights of our lives. we'll never forget.
