we were staying somewhere else in Budapest because this place is amazing but pricey, but after doing some research we guessed this would be the best place to watch the Aug 20th fireworks and the red bull race from and booked a castle view room 2 months before we arrived (much to their surprise). we walked into the lovely room and opened the curtains to... WOW!!! a million dollar view can't describe how great it was so you'll have to look at the pictures. only minor complaint was the room service food which was average at best but cost the moon. everything else was superb. one of the best nights of our lives. we'll never forget.

We stayed here for 5 nights recently as part of a Danube river cruise package. We were very happy with the location and the room. We could walk to almost any destination from here and for the few places we couldn't reach we used the Hop on Hop off bus with its ticket booth right outside the hotel door. I believe we enjoyed the breakfast more than most of the posters so perhaps it has been upgraded. There appears to be a guard outside the building each night (near the restaurant) to make sure things are safe. As other posters reported, we did see the same "ladies" every night, starting around 10 PM.

The location is very central and if you have a river facing room, the view is incredible, especially at night. The hotel is the standard Intercontinental - very nice but nothing unique. The Four Seasons across the circle is a spectacular, historic hotel but is far more expensive than the Intercontinental and is without the views and has smaller rooms.

We spent five memorable nights in Budapest in this wonderful hotel & thought it can't get better than this, surely? The Hotel is located overlooking the Danube & Buda Castle so beg, borrow or steal & make sure your room is overlooking these. An upgrade would be most appropriate since the breakfast is a wonderful repast as well. The rooms are spacious, the service is attentive (rare in E. Europe!) & of course the location is unbeatable. We just bought a Travel pass & scoured the city by metro, tram & bus often not knowing where we were going but the transport system is so well organised that mistakes are not expensive in terms of time (or money!)I commend this Hotel very highly as it is great value, well maintained, & well located (the metro is only an easy 300 metre, walk away) . And, it gets better - Gerbaud the venerable Hungarian Coffee House & Maker of heavenly sweets is on the way to the Metro , just around the corner from the IC Hotel.

I stayed in this Intercontinental for a 3-day weekend with my wife. As an Ambassador member, upon my arrival I upgraded to a very beautiful room at 5th floor , with amazing view on the danube river and the Buda castle. The room was large, well furnished and luxuriously decorated, with all these things that individual traveler needs. The bathroom, although small in size, had everything you need. Lobby area and the lobby bar and terrace were beautiful, with amazing views either in the pedestrian zone outside or in the Danube and the Buda castle. There was also a jazz music band playing in the evenings: very relaxing ambient. Breakfast in the Corso restaurant of the hotel was truly amazing: a lot of foods either in quantity or in quality! I can say that the breakfast was the best of all European hotels. There is also a fitness center on 1st floor with gym and indoor pool, as well as thai massage. All staff were well trained, always with a smile. Finally, location of the hotel is great: in the heart of the city, within walking distance of many attractions. In conclusion, it is a luxury hotel in the best location of Budapest, and I had there a memorable 3-day stay.

Stayed at the Intercontinental for three nights in April. It is a beautiful, modern hotel with a spectacular and convenient location. Our Danube view room was large and spotless. The breakfast was vast and delicious. Every employee we dealt with was friendly, efficient and helpful.
I'm not sure how much we paid since it was booked as part of a package through European Destinations. But I would agree with the recommendation to book a standard room and then upgrade to a river view by joing the Priority Club at check in. (The upgrade was 40E per night and the Priority Club fee is 96E - obviously it depends on how many nights you will be there.)
