This hotel is located on the Danube River. The views from our river facing room was wonderful. Being able to watch the constant traffic on the river was very interesting; sightseeing boats, large barges, small personal craft, and cruise ships all made for wonderful photos. Our king room on the ninth floor gave us a great vantage point to see the Buda Castle across the river along with a few of the bridges. No outside noise could be heard even though the #2 tram line stops drectly beside the hotel. We were pleased with the level of service received, all staff we encountered greeted us with a smile and a hello. Breakfast choices were many and all we sampled were good. The hotel is located at the #2 tram line which connects with numerous other transport options that will get you almost anywhere you need to travel. Walking street with shops, restaurants, and street food located nearby and easily located. Great stay and already looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: Danube River facing rooms are great!

Located in the centre of Budapest, having lots of floors with good rooms, "Intercontinental Budapest" is a nice hotel. Has two floors underground car park, and a restaurant. The post is not far away, but there are problems also. The problem is, that when there is an inundation, the river floods the area near the hotel, and it is not easy to get there by car, because the streets are closed. But it happens only in the springtime.

Nice, clean, efficient, courteous staff. Comfortable bed. Decent buffet breakfast. Overlooks Danube river. Bathroom is small but clean. Bar are was nice, outdoor cafe style dining. We requested a river view but the charge was 40 euros per night. But all in all it was a Convenient place to stay.

Room Tip: Request a room with a river view.

Taking everything into consideration...position,service, food, this was one of the best hotels that I have stayed in. The staff could not be more courteous and helpful. Encountered none of the complaints shown in some ot your reviews, only positives and would recommend to anyone.

We will become Intercontinental bores at this rate. This hotel is everything you should expect from it. Reception was efficient and helpful, the room was spotless and although we had a standard room, it was perfectly adequate. However, the extra payment for the river view is worth it. You will never get such a view again! Overlooking the Danube, you can see all the river sights and it is wonderful at night, with everything lit up. The buffet breakfast was excellent, with a superb choice. We had one light meal on the terrace (we prefer to explore and not eat in hotels) and it was OK, but you wouldn't recommend it. The papaya slings were another matter, and a pre bedtime cocktail was too tempting to pass by. When we visited, the floods were just dying down and the temperature had risen. It was so hot over our 5 day stay, that a break in the air conditioned hotel bar was a must in the middle of the day. Ok, enough praise for the hotel. A good idea to visit the important places in Budapest is to use the Big Bus. It's a hop on hop off type of thing, and there is a stop near the hotel. You also get a night tour and a river cruise thrown in for your 2 day ticket, so it's good value. Make sure you visit the market, the building is a delight. And remember your dancing shoes! Young and old seem to gather in the parks and dance in the open air - latin seems to predominate. Brilliant to either join in or just watch. Although this is supposed to be a review of the Intercontinental, I have to add that our whole break in Budapest was delightful.

Room Tip: Book a river view room.

Now, this is my favourite choice for Budapest: InterContinental.

No surprises here, it's Interconti, full stop. Rooms exactly as you would expect them: tidy, neat, conservative and reasonably comfortable. Beds are a bit on the soft side, but stil excellent. Take the Danube view.

Service is on a high level, many choices for breakfast. Again, it's Interconti.

The hotel is fantastically located within seconds walk to the center of Budapest and right on the bank of Danube. Parking is decent, don't struggle in -1, drive to -2 and park comfortably.

Coffee advice (always looking for a good ristretto): nah. Not even remotely.

Runner's advice: Two major choices, either to Margit Island and a round there, it's beautiful, or up to the Castle. Both choices include some running along with traffic, hence the health benefit might be disputable, yet you'll enjoy the city at its best.

Room Tip: Danube view is a must. Rooms away from Danube are quieter.

We visited this hotel on a 5day visit at the beginning of June 2013. We have stayed in many many hotels in Britain and Europe, but never a Hotel that has ticked all the boxes, as this one did.
We had a lovely large room on the 2nd floor, with huge windows, looking out over the Danube.
What a fantastic sight all lit up at night. The hotel is in a superb position facing the Castle and right next to the Chain Bridge. The staff on our arrival, late at night, were expecting us and so welcoming, from the doorman, the receptionist and through to the porter, so very helpful. Everyone spoke exceptionally good English. The breakfast the next day was everything you could wish for, I am a fussy eater, but there was not anything that was not good. The choice was exceptional. and very well cooked. A good English Breakfast or continental
The lunch time menu was also very good as were the cakes. The evening meal in the restaurant taken overlooking the Danube (as was the breakfast and lunch) was lovely the food
well cooked with great care. All the food was free range and local wherever possible, and well served, and the staff very friendly, could not do enough for you without being intrusive. The room was lovely, exceptionally clean and well serviced. Our visit was great. For us our only downside was the weather, usually very warm and dry at that time of year, it was the Flooding of the Danube, which was very unfortunate, but nothing to do with this fantastic Hotel and its lovely friendly staff. We have no complaints only compliments, from start to finish, and would stay there again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Always choose a river view, 2nd floor and upwards.
