“Great staff and amazing service”
Reviewed November 29, 2012

This is the 5th time my wife and I have stayed here and this was the best of a great bunch!

We had booked a club room and were upgraded to a corner suite wth a beautiful view of the Danube and the chain bridge, as well as being spacious and comfortable.

Due to booking the club room, we got the benefits of breakfast in either the club lounge or the main dining room, both of which were excellent.

Having access to the club lounge meant not only free breakfast, but soft drinks and hot drinks all day, a slad bar at lunch, plenty of hot and cold snacks between 6pm - 8pm and free drinks between 6pm-10pm (inc beer, wine (red, white and sparkling) and lots of spirits - all complimentary!

The staff are absolutely lovely and nothing is too much trouble, from lost passports to organising restaurants, they are incredibly helpful.

However, a special mention must go to all the staff in the club loung who were not only courteous and firendly, but also very interesting to talk to and gave us some great tips about the area.

We have also eaten in the restaurant in the past and the quality of food was excellent.

We were luck that we had internet access in the club lounge, but 25 euros a day for the rest of the hotel is very steep!

Overall, this hotel can't be faulted and we cannot wait until we return

Room Tip: Rooms on the river side are much quieter and the corner suites are very spacious

Hotel is situated beside the Danube a short walk from the Chain Bridge giving easy access to the Castle in one direction and an easy walk to the Central Market in the other. A typical chain hotel, staff are very efficient and rooms are clean and well equipped but lacking in atmosphere. One of the few hotels that we stayed in in Europe without free internet. There are a large number of restaurants along the riverfront here and in a couple of squares behind the hotel. The big winner is the location as you can see most of the main sites of Budapest on foot.

Room Tip: Try and get a room overlooking the river.

Spent only a day at this hotel, but I wish it could take even shorter than this. Even though I would say that the hotel location is superb that is the only thing that is superb in this hotel still. Starting from the check in which took 20 minutes with only few people in line to the parking which costed close to 80 EUR per day. In the area of free WiFi all over the place a 5 star hotel found to be logical to additionally charge for the WiFi as we were in some shack at the end of the world. Cherry on the top was a check out procedure in the morning that was painfully long...kinda never ending story feeling. Sorry to say but for me was a really disapointing experience. Having stayed in many hotels in Budapest I would say there are plenty of hotels who will offer a far better experience than the one you'll have at the Intercontinental.

The Hotel exceeds all expectations, excellent location, you can get to almost all city highlights by foot, very good breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff.
The only complaint that I have is the charge of 25 Euro per day for the use of Wi-Fi. Also in the lobby there is no free Wi-Fi , which to me , is a big minus when choosing a hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get the river side

We pick hotel from tripadvisor review , hotel is facing the Danube , close to Vorosmarty Plaza, where my favorite bakery is, Gerbau. Vaci street stars in the plaza and have all kind of stores, cafe, restaurant , st Michael where we enjoyed a Vivaldi concert.
Hotel is beautiful , staff trained to please, chief concierge , was so helpful every time my husband and I were going out he would asked, can we help you with direction. We visited my sister in law and he told us to take tram #2 in front of the hotel. Room was big , very comfortable , bed was incredible and selection of pillows. Bathroom big and comfortable , breakfast was excellent.
We stayed 9 days and I wished we could of have stayed longer. Thank you Tripadvisor

We stayed here for 3 nights in August proir to starting our River Cruise to Amsterdam, we arrived about 1am after a flight from Rome, we were upgraded and our room was great, we didnt realise until the morning that we looked straight over the beautiful Danube to the Castle, absolutely breath taking.
We were away from home for 2 months and this would have to be the best hotel we stayed in, the hotel and staff were first class and the location was amazing, this was our first time in Budapest and we loved it, we are hoping to be back in Budapest in 2014 and we will definitely stay at The Intercontinental again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Danube have magnificent views.
