“Best value for the money in Budapest for luxury”
Reviewed May 14, 2011

We stayed at this hotel because of the gret internet rate that we found on the Sofitel web site. It is in the high rent district between the Intercontinentlal and the Fuur Seasons Grisham Palace. It is right on the Danube. Our rate was less than half that or the Four Seasons.
Our room was not teady on arrival so our basic room was upgraded to a deluxe Danube view room. WE overlooked the Cahin Bridge the Buda Castle.
Room were not large but adequate. The bathroom was on the small side but very nicely done.
The hotel was immacualate. The statff were very helpful and alway quit3e courteous which is not typiccal for Budapest. There is free wifi and 15 minutes free use of the business center daily
There is a nice a fitness center with a good sized indoor lap pool which is improtant to me since I swim daily/ It was usaually not crowded.
The Jewish quarter is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel and there was easly acess to the Danube walway and Cahin Bridge for the tram to Buda.
The only problem that the hotel seemed to have was the ocassiaonal long wait for the elevaor since the hotel has an atrium design

very nice place, good position.
I have been in the suite, ask for the view on the river in front at RoyalPalace
In 10 min walking you are right in the center of the city.
Very good for friends and family, it is in a quite position, there is also a small casino where you can go directly from the hotel.

Having arrived very late for our 4 day break we were quickly checked in and opted for an upgrade to a room overlooking the Danube. Having stayed in the Sofitel in Brussels, we knew the bed would be comfortable and we were not disappointed!

The breakfast was very good but we felt that it should have been positioned in a better position as it spanned two corners.

The concierge was very efficient and a great help.

One evening, having arrived back late from Lake Balaton, we ate in the hotel restaurant - bad mistake! The food was pretty poor but following a complaint from us, we were offered a discount. Eating in Budapest is not cheap and they really have not got it yet. Our advise is to eat at the beautiful setting on the top of the Fishermans Bastion, overlooking the Danube. Not overpriced considering the location and your are serenaded by a string trio or quartet. We ate there one lunchtime and although the menu is limited, it was very nice.

Do not bother with the hop on - hop off bus. We wished we had not and used the trams and buses.

All in all a nice city break, but do not expect it to be cheap!

The Chain Bridge Sofitel hotel was more than I expected. The people were friendly and greeted all with a smile. We had a view room which had spectacular views and was worth every cent paid. The food in the hotel was quite expensive and I found it better to eat out of the hotel. My breakfast was inclusive in my price, which I would recommend to any traveller staying in the hotel. The breakfast was good with huge variety and plenty on offer to satisfy most people.

The health spa and gym was well supported by guests including myself and my wife. The gym needs a minor upgrade in the cardio department but all in all the pool and sauna's didn't disappoint.
The internet was quite expensive , but they do have a free wifi service that allows minimal access for free, but enough to do banking and check your emails.

This was a great choice and we looked forward to coming back to our hotel room after a day of sightseeing and plenty of walking.

The Sofitel hotel is locatad very centrally. It has very comfortable beds. The luxury room (worth to take since the price difference between superior and luxury is not to big) offers breathtaking views. The room was in general quite comfortable and the staff very helpful and friendly.

The hotel has however some drawbacks.

The negativ things I experienced:
- some stains/marks on the wall paper
- some stains on the floor around the toillet, eeewwww....
- old, broken and squeaking chair by the work desk

- Internet is a joke: approx 20 Euro for 24 hours with a limit of 1 MB!!!...or you choose the business package for like 30 Euros for 24 hours and you get unlimited access...
These days where every Mac Donalds can offer free wifi a hotel what charges at least a 150 Euros per night really should offer this complimentary.

...and the finally the worst...

- An unrequested wake up trough the televisions wake up system with an alarm and a message "that they hope you had the opportunity to enjoy the free bloody drink they offered you upon arrival" at the day of check out 8:30am....

Thats not very customerfriendly and the reason I give it only 3 stars.

The hotel is great but more than that, the staff really make themselves available to help with any queries one might have. Guest Relations Manager, Emőke Koner and Sales Executive Gábor Ülkei were particularly kind and helpful, in suggestions and idea on things to do and see.

I’d also recommend the hotel due to location as well, and if you’re lucky to have a view of the Danube its worth paying the extra 

Me and my husband had been in Sofitel Budapest for the easter of 2011. The location is the best it can be. The hotel is close to Four Seasons and Intercontinental. The view is unlimited and wonderful. We stayed in a luxury Danube view room which was too spacy and very clean. The furnishing was not too new but there was a flat screen and a new and clean bathroom. The view is something we could not imagine. Also, the breakfast can satisfy every traveler. The staff was too helpful. It was a really pleasant stay. I recommend it to everyone who want to have an unexpected and wonderful stay in the centre of the city next to everything.

Room Tip: Stay in a luxury Danube view room and look around!
