We stayed at the Kempinski for 4 nights in early June as part of a month long 9 city trip including Germany, Austria, Budapest and Prague. The hotel was near the top of the 5 star hotels. The hotels location was great, as was everything else. Our room was on the eighth floor with a park view which was great. Request the park view. We went next door to the Le Meridian, and liked the Kempinshi much better. Deserving special mention was the buffet breakfast. Try to get it included in your rate as it is 30 euro per person.
Money saving tip: We stayed Thursday through Sunday nights.
I made 2 reservations, one for Thursday at the regular package rate. Another for the weekend at weekend rate. This saved about 250 euro. Worth a little typing. This was through the Kempinski web site. We liked Budapest better than Prague. Prague has become over run with tourists, and the junk shops that cater to them. We really enjoyed Berlin, don't miss it.

My husband a I have just returned from a two night stay in Budapest at the Kempinski Corvinus Hotel and we made a good choice. Great location, helpful but discrete staff, lovely rooms and the best beds and fluffy duvets ever!! The breakfast is wonderful with all tastes catered for and even champagne available for bucks fizz if you want it. Try to catch afternoon tea or coffee in the reception lounge with live musicians seranading you from the balcony. The bar is atmospheric and again has live music but is expensive. All the restaurants serve a good standard of food and there is a two course lunch with coffee available at a reasonable price. For relaxed dining try the German beer keller with large portions of authentic German food and great beers. We are hard to please as far as hotels are concerned having had more than one bad experience, however on this occassion we had no cause for complaint and would return here again.

The Kempinski Hotel is a good hotel. It lives up to its name. The hotel is well appointed and effort is made to make the guest comfortable. The rooms have all the amenities. The location is excellent - just minutes from the Danube and from the main streets in Budapest. Taxis are always available. If public transportation is your desire, numerous subway stations are very close by. In terms of the staff, my review is mixed. All were very helpful (housekeeping, valet, waitress, etc.) except the front desk and concierge staff. Some were very nice, but again, some. Most were very stuffy, unfriendly, and behaved as if they were doing you a favor. Granted this is epidemic Budapest, but still, it is unpleasant. As friendliness is vital for a hotel reputation, I will not let the front desk area spoil it for the rest of the pleasant workers at the hotel. Overall, the Kempinski name fits to the hotel. Your stay will be enjoyable.

The Kempinski hotel in Budapest is a perfect blend of old world elegance and new age construction. It isn't a renovated palace or anything of that sort, but the rooms and large and elegantly appointed in such a way that when inside you may just think of yourself as royalty.

The hotel is very centrally located in Budapest, a few minutes walk away from Hungary's version of the Champs Elysee and equidistant from the Danube. You could typically walk everywhere you needed to from the hotel - the Palace is at most a 20 minute walk away and this is what probably makes the hotel perfect. In a city with much to see and do, a hotel centrally located but without the noise is something special indeed.

The staff is very courteous and always available to help. I do remember however that they charge a ridiculous sum for a travel plug (so don't forget these when you go). A nice bar with live music is perfect for that evening drink and the restaurant serves a magnificent breakfast. You could find more reasonably priced hotels in the area (The Meridien next door comes to mind) but if it's comfort you are looking for after a long days sightseeing then the Kempinski is hard to beat.

Being my girlfriends birthday, and our first Valentine's together, I thought I'd be a bit fancy, I couldn't have been more right!
We stayed 3 nights (as far as my budget could stretch) and loved every moment. On arrival we were greeted by the reception staff who checked us in, gave us a three minute - virtual - tour (via a map) of the city, recommended some nice places to eat and hot spots to see.
The room was fantastic, although I must admit, it's the first time I've stayed in a 5* hotel. View over the park and towards the Basilica was good. Bathroom was great, and lots of toiletries, towels, robes etc.
In the morning we plucked up the courage to sample to the pool and spa area which, again, was great. The staff were friendly and welcoming and we felt very comfortable - although watch out for the naked businessmen....

My only point of contention with the hotel is the price of food and drink. As has been pointed out in many of the reviews, the mini-bar is extortionate - but we just bought our own bottles in the local shops and made some space for them. The shock came when, on our last night and dying for a cup of tea, on return from a local restaurant we ordered two teas and found it came to nearly £10 - granted they were in fancy pots, with nice china..but P.G. tips and a mug would have been fine!

I and my girlfriend had a brilliant time in the city and the hotel was perfect for us, especially as the prices were reduced in February.

We stayed here for 1 night in April 2007, at the end of a 4 day stay in Budapest. Although the hotel was well designed and staff were helpful and efficient, we felt the hotel didn't quite live up to our expectations (perhaps we set them too high!)
The hotel was a bit souless, although it had a good location and nice rooms.
We are probably biased in our experience as there was a couple of large parties staying at the same time, which meant that things were rather crowded and a bit hectic at times.
Although I know you pay for luxury hotels, I thought there could have been a few more freebies - a bottle of water in the room, that's not charged in the mini-bar would have been nice. Maybe that's just me!
It is a nice hotel, but I'm not sure it gives the same value for money or wow factor that other hotels in Budapest would offer.
