“Modern Yet Gracious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2012

Our room was spacious, clean and beautifully appointed. Because we stayed there three nights we received a discount. The location of this hotel is excellent as it is within walking distance to the Danube, wonderful restaurants, subways and the famous coffee house Café Gerbeaud where we had breakfast every morning.
When we arrived in Budapest, we took the subway from the train station directly to a subway station that was about a block from our hotel.
Unfortunately the hotel allowed smoking in the lobby and the common areas. The concierges were extremely helpful. We did use the hotel taxi to the airport when we flew back to the States (the hotel will deduct the taxi fare from your bill), but otherwise we did not use the taxis in Budapest.
We gave this hotel a rating of 9 on a scale of 10.

As I am not the one who endulge myself in snobbish hotels regularly, I enjoyed my visit at Kempinski very much indeed. Superb service, although by the tone of the receptionist it sounded like I had abused and/or tortured her the night before. I guess that's how it is with these posh hotels, they kiss your behind any way possible.

Our room was large, and the view was spectacular. No sounds coming from the street below either. Bathroom extravagant and may I say, very sexy for a bathroom. Location top notch, very close to any attraction in Budapest. Their Spa worked wonders, and the prices were extremely low compared to where I am from. As I told my wife, in Budapest a Master-degree student and a consultant can live like kings and queens, and so we did.

We opted not to go with their breakfast, and it was indeed the right choice. Plenty of good places to eat around the area, and for less than their quite expensive breakfast. Had a German type beer in their lobby, and the beer was still about 2 Euro cheaper than a beer at Oslo Airport. Still, we decided not to return, but rather try any bar/restaurant in the areas around. My wife had a friend living in Budapest, who could only confirm that our hotel choice was good, and she showed us some very good places in Budapest to eat and drink.

If you ever go to Budapest, go to this hotel and be the king. You won't find a better bargain anywhere else if you're coming from western Europe/Northern American.

We booked the hotel via our travel agent but I contacted the concierge via email (see on their website) and they arranged for us transport from the airport to the hotel an the same from hotel to airport at a normal price (choice between LIMO, mercedes E, regular cab,...).

The concierge is pretty much the go to guy, he answered all our question, booked our tours,....

The breakfast is outstanding, the same applies to the restaurant (however we did not try the NOBU, they have two restaurant)

The SPA is small but efficient.

Service was outstanding.

There is a reason it is a leading of the world hotel.

the location is perfect to start walking.....

I recommend it.

Room Tip: 7 floors non smoking room

I stayed at this hotel from 28th Dec until 2n Jan. On arrival we were greeted like friends and were given a free room upgrade to a beautiful room with amazing views. The breakfast was included and the fast amount of choice was superb. Th staff were all frienly and the bar staff were wonderful. Only down side was the temp of the water in the pool, but the spa was very good. New year in Budapest was wonderful.

Room Tip: ask for a good view

Nice hotel. Quite old fashioned and bathrooms could do with an update. Pay tv is extortionate at 60aud for 24 hours. No coffee making facilities in rooms which i found odd. You can order from room service and thy are quick plus norip off delivery fee but I like a couple of cups before I get on wih my day and it's just inconvenient.

I had stayed here frequently in the 1990's but it had been a while and I was slightly apprehensive. I was given a gorgeous smallish room overlooking the square in front and was delighted. The amenities are top notch. This had been my favorite hotel in eastern Europe 15 years ago, and the standards have not declined a notch, typical of Kempinski. Slightly bizarrely, the decore was almost unchanged but in pristine condition and is still not tired. The front desk exudes professionalism and helpfulness. Breakfast is generous. Because of its ever-so-slight location issues (it is not on the Danube), it is great value for money outside of peak business season.

Room Tip: If you can get a room at the front overlooking the park, go for it.
