I chose this hotel after I read the reviews. I rated the reviewers and thought some of the minor things they did not like could have been handled and solved on the spot. It turned out to be true. Reception went into all details to find out what type of room I would like, what bed type (just for your information twin bed in this part of the world means two single beds apart, double bed means two single beds pushed together, french bed or king size means one big matress) If you have doubts, inspect room before taking it.
Pillows were a bit soft for me but after asking they supplied 3-4 different ones I could choose from. Breakfast is surely not a continental (as someone wrote), plenty of fruits, cold cuts, bakery, warm eggs and mushroom-sausage, cereal. I find the sparkling wine a bit over the top but many tourists were happy.Location is perfectly central but in a side street (yes, the garbage pickup comes early morning at home too..) I chose a street view room although the ones overlooking the courtyard are probably very quiet. I did sleep very well which is unusual for me away from home. Rooms and public areas are all clean and well taken care of. I am a difficult guest with all my extra wishes and all were taken care of. Great hotel and great staff - I can recommend.

We enjoyed our 4 night stay at the K&K Opera Hotel and took advantage of a pay for 3, stay 4 nights special that they were running. It was a terrific value.

The location is excellent, right next to the Opera House with very easy access to the Metro and walking distance to many great restaurants and attractions.

The hotel staff was friendly and efficient.

The room was nice but not anything for us to get excited over. Perhaps we were in an older section of the hotel? The room was somewhat plain and our view was of the roof and across to other rooms. The two double beds pushed together was fine except for the big dip where they came together.

Fortunately we did not spend many waking hours in the room.

The daily breakfast at the K&K Opera was excellent.

All in all it had a hotel chain feel to it and not the charm that we've come to appreciate in Europe with the smaller and independently run hotels.

My wife and I stayed at the K+K Hotel Opera with two friends for five nights during the last week of October 2009. We chose this hotel simply because of the brilliant reviews on Trip Advisor and from the minute we arrived we knew that we had made the right choice – needless to say we highly recommend it and would not hesitate to stay here again.

We booked directly using the hotel’s own website on the ‘4 nights for 3’ deal plus 1 night and it worked out at approximately 22,000 forints (£75) per room per night, including breakfast. In my opinion this was a total bargain.

In reception the staff were all friendly and accommodating, especially Eva and Viktoria who were most helpful throughout our whole stay. Check-in was quick and efficient, our special requests were all taken on board and a porter brought our cases to the room. Three free internet terminals were available for guest use just outside the business lounge.

The room was spacious and spotlessly clean and tidy. The big double bed was very comfortable and when we asked to have the feather pillows substituted with foam ones our request was handled immediately. The bathroom was fine and the room also had a safe, mini bar and a wall mounted flat screen TV whose channels were helpfully categorised by language.

The breakfast buffet was excellent – a large cold selection of fruit, cereal, bread, pastries, meats and cheeses as well as eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, etc. There was also Japanese miso soup and nishiki rice. The juices, teas and coffee were spot on and the champagne went down a treat one morning when we were feeling decadent! On the evening we arrived we also ate in the bistro bar. The dinner menu was extensive and the prices reasonable for such high quality food and drinks.

The location couldn’t be better – just off Andrassy Avenue and a ten minute stroll to both Chain Bridge and the top of Vaci utca. The West End Shopping Complex was also only ten minutes away on foot. When we went to and from Keleti train station when we went to Bratislava in Slovakia for the day we used services of the hotel car which cost 2,500 forints (£8) there and 3,500 forints (£11). The return was more pricey as the driver personally met us on the platform to save us having to run the gauntlet with the many illegal taxi drivers and other undesirables hanging around outside. Also, the ‘Opera’ metro station is only 50 metres from the hotel on Andrassy.

Regarding transport to and from Ferihegy airport, there is a company called Zona Taxis who run fixed price cabs to and from the city centre. The K+K Hotel Opera is in Zone 2 and the fixed price to the hotel is 4800 forints (£16), and back to the airport is 3600 forints (£12). We found them to be very reliable and there was no hassle regarding the price. When you arrive there is a taxi desk just outside the arrivals hall and they will sort it out for you. For the journey back to the airport the hotel reception will make the booking for you.

In Budapest we enjoyed the views of the Danube, Chain Bridge and Castle Hill in the daytime and at night, visiting Szechenyi Baths in City Park for a half-day spa, walking the full length of Vaci utca, strolling around historic Buda and seeing the city from above from the dome of St. Stephen’s in Pest. We also ate awesome steak at Pampas Argentine Steakhouse at Vamhaz Korut 6 and had a super pub crawl around some of the ‘ruin’ pubs in the Jewish Quarter including Szimpla Kert at Kazinczy utca 14.

My husband and I stayed at this Hotel for 4 nights in October (we had a 4 nights for the price of 3 deal). We arrived late in the evening and checked-in promptly without any hastles or un-necessary questions. We had booked a Standard Room but were given an Executive Room (because of anniversary we think). The room was excellent, modern, very clean with every amenity you would want or need. The bathroom was lovely black marble with a fabulous walk-in shower. It did not have a Bath and this was not a problem but it might have been nice to have a bit of a soak. Breakfast was excellent, buffet style with a massive selection. It was also served from 6.30am until 11am which suited us when we needed a lie-in. There were 3 computers located in the lobby, each with internet access which were free for our use. We found this to be a very good service, to check on e-mails and find out further information about Budapest. The Hotel is in a fabulous location just next to the Opera and it is just off the main Andrassy Street, so no noise. We really rated this Hotel and it was definitely value for money. The staff were friendly, helpful and informative. They gave us local maps and explained good areas to visit. The hotel also issued weather forecast bulletins and recommended local restaurants. There are plenty of really good restaurants within 5 minutes walk of the Hotel. We had a great time in Budapest and would stay at this hotel again. Anne & Mark

One of the best values in European hotels I have ever encountered. One minute's walk to the magnificent Budapest Opera House. The opera was sold out, but our concierge at K&K Opera got my daughter and me primo tickets in the 6th row. The concierge also helped me buy cheap rail tickets from Budapest to Vienna (half the cost of buying them in the U.S.) Another three minute walk to St. Stephen's basilica, filled with polished marble. The hotel had ample free internet, a breakfast (included) to die for--flaky French pastries filled with apricot puree, strong tasty coffee, delicious bacon and eggs. The decor is snazzy and modern; everything works--plumbing, flat-screen TX, comfortable beds. We paid approximately $150.00 per night including all taxes and breakfast for two in October, 2009. The hotel restaurant, as well, is excellent. My daughter and I stayed 4 nights and loved this place, would definitely go back.

Having previously stayed at K+K Hotels in Prague and Bucarest it was a fairly simple choice for us to use the Hotel Opera in Budapest even though it was getting towards the upper-end of our price range.

We arrived at about 10pm and given a wonderful welcome by the reception staff. They gave us plenty of information and a pack to help us get around the city. We were immediately struck by the friendliness of the front-desk staff something, we were to later discover, which was typical of all of the staff throughout the hotel.

The room was perfect with a very large double bed, flat screen TV, mini bar, safe etc. And the ensuite 'wet room' was beautiful. It almost goes without saying that all of the facilities throughout the hotel were clean and spotless. Breakfast, served from 06:30 - 11am was well worth the extra we paid. Although it was more of the 'continental' style (to be expected) rather than 'full English' there was plenty of great food to choose from.

The Hotel is almost next to the city's Opera House and in a perfect, quiet and safe location just off Andrassy. The shops in the immediate area were eg. Versace, Gucci and a host of other names which made my wife's jaw drop. Needless to see we did a lot of shopping - of the window variety only.

Armed with the maps and restaurant guides given to us by the hotel staff we quickly found or feet and had a wonderful week exploring one of Europe's most beautiful cities - but we needed more time really to see everything we wanted to see so a return visit is almost certain. And this hotel will be top of our list as a potential residence for our next visit.
