“The perfect beginning”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

We stayed here at the beginning of our two week trip to Budapest and Austria over the holidays, and couldn't have been happier. The rooms were a delightful surprise, the view was stunning over the Danube and the Pest side of the city, the breakfasts were our favorite on the trip... including the typical European selection of breads, cheeses, cold cuts, fruit, cereals/grains/nuts, jams etc etc. and a hot egg dish made to order... and all the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful, but especially Irena, and the woman who handled the bar and breakfast.
Don't miss the 'tea' 4 - 5 P.M. in the white music room.
We looked at maybe two dozen, narrowed it down to Gerloczy or this, and were VERY happy here in this spot. (Try the Gerloczy restaurant and especially their chocolate cake...better than the best in Vienna) Also, the Budapest Card made the trip across the river easy and free, with many other benefits. Very worth the small price.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong with any room with windows over the Danube.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights over the New Year and would have no hesitation in recommending it. The rooms are modern, clean and well maintained with superb views over the Danube and the city. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast area is a bit tight on space but the food is good. There are plenty of great restaurants within a few minutes walk of the hotel. All of the main points of interest are within walking distance. What more could you ask for?

Room Tip: All rooms are good or if you have a preference just e-mail the hotel and they will try to accommodat...

Chose this hotel as I saw that it has great views. As all of you know, Budapest is great for it's night scenery. We walked a lot in Budapest (didn't take any bus at all), hence the location is quite far to walk if you are at the town centre. About 20 mins walk. Nevertheless, the walk also allowed us to enjoy the beautiful city scenery of this Unesco town.

Back at the hotel, you can also climb the hill and reach various restaurants. It's a quiet walk, hence do stay at the well lit roads for safety reasons. There was also a huge supermarket about 5-10 mins. The hotel is about 15 mins taxi ride to the train station. Book the taxi from the reception if you need to, for safety reasons.

Rooms were clean, warmly decorated and decent. Just that 2 single beds were joint to a double bed. The room was pretty well furnished, and there was a leaflet placed in the room to inform you of what to watch out for dangers (such as public transport), the expected taxi fair etc etc. I found the leaflet very useful as a tourist, but my partner was quite paranoid about taking public transport hence we walked a lot.

As for the receptionist, they kept changing due to different shifts. They will assist in your queries, but can sometimes be quite curt.

Breakfast was decent, good to last you till late afternoon. You can choose from the eggs menu on how you want your eggs to be done, and they will serve it warm and fresh to you. Ham, cereals, breads, yogurts, fruits and coffee/tea were served. Not bad for European standards. It's quite a value for money hotel.

Best thing of the hotel is the view. And the scenic walk along the river as you head out/come back from sightseeing.

Lovely hotel, only 27 rooms but each has a picture window with a stunning view of the Danube. Rooms are clean and very comfortable, breakfasts are good and there are hot and cold choices. Afternoon tea is served free of charge in the beautiful music room, lovely to come back to after a days walking round the city. I would go back to this hotel in an instance, we had a great stay there. The hotel is located just by the chain bridge on the Buda side, just under the castle and close to the funicular railway. It is a great location.

Room Tip: If you can ask for a high room, you will not be disappointed.

What a great hotel. The location is perfect, rooms large comfortable overlooking the river with breathtaking views. Excellent value for money. The staff are mixed some friendly some bit off hand and breakfasts fine but nothing startling. The hotel makes up for all this though and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Everything is in walking distance or public transport is very close by. What a find. Thanks Trip advisor.

Very nice hotel in the center of the city. We had river view and liked it very much. There are big panoramic windows in the room. Rooms are clean but not very big with pretty good breakfast. Staff is helpful.

My wife and I stayed Friday to Monday in the middle room of the third floor. Very well furnished room with great decoration and lighting. Small but modern and spotlessly clean shower room. Incredible views through wall to wall, floor to ceiling window of the Chain Bridge, Parliament Building and Pest in general. A wonderful place to come back to after a day walking the cold, grey December streets of the city. The staff were efficient and helpful but generally not over friendly. Breakfast was good with the usual cold array but also hot egg dishes. Our only gripes are the silly single duvets on the king size bed, which meant wrapping into a sleeping bag arrangement in order not to find bits of body with no covering. Why cannot one large duvet to fit the bed be provided? The only other problem was the air conditioning unit noise, which bothered me but not my wife, ear plugs were worn. Otherwise, an excellent hotel which I thoroughly recommend.

Room Tip: I would think that any of the river facing rooms would be good, higher floor if traffic noise bother...
