I stay in Budapest a lot, so I've tried out a lot of the hotels, but for me this little gem a clear winner for style, value and service. The room was really clean, and newly refurbished, with everything I needed: powerful hairdryer in the bathroom; good value, well stocked minibar (not a rip off like most hotels); comfy beds; powerful shower and the best thing, a great big plazma TV with a USB port that I could play my Ipod through. In terms of decor, it's all really tasteful and modern, with great underlighting and the most fabulous view of river and parliament.

The service was top notch, they took my bags to my room, the reception staff spoke great English and couldn't do enough to help. They even had electric plug adaptors for my english hair straighteners! Breakfast was a buffet, with eggs and bacon cooked to order. The bacon really sold this place to me, you'd think being Hungarian they might not get what makes good bacon, but this stuff was seriously tasty.

Then just generally, this place is also well located. The palace is 5 mins walk away and the main shoping street (oxford st equivalent) is a 15 min walk.

All in all, it just looks nice, it's in a great location, the staff are great, the food is good, it's clean and I can listen to my ipod in my room, and it's good value. Nothing not to like.

"Already the booking was smooth and uncomplicated. Since I had no balance on credit card, I booked per phone.

LOCATION:
Easy to find, you can not miss the hotel. Comming from highway inside Budapest the main road is leading directly to the Lanchid bridge - Budapest's main landmark. The hotel is 2min walking from Lanchid Bridge along the Danube river.

ROOMS:
The rooms are on high level regarding the design and in-room amneties. Spacious, light, modern, FlatTV, WiFi, beatifull bathroom. Two rooms on the top floor have balconies too.

VIEW:
I stayed in few hotels in Budapest, and Victoria has definitely the best view you can get in Budapest. First row to Danube, all rooms have floor to ceiling windows offering spectacular views to the Danube, the Parlament, the Lanchid bridge, and to the complete Pest-Riverside. Especially by night is the view outstanding! The two rooms on the top floor have big balconies where you can sit, dring coffee and enjoy the beaty of Danube.

HOTEL and SERVICE:
Small hotel, as I prefer, more like a familly-run hotel. The reception staff is helpfull and friendly. Since it is a small hotel, just few free parkplaces in front of the hotel as far as I now (maybe there is more parking behind). Good choice of food and hot and cold beverages for the breakfast which was included in price of my package. The hotel is a 3 star, but it deserves 4 stars minimum, but since it is a small one, they can not offer some amneties like swimmingpool which would give them a star more.

VALUE:
Highest value for the money. The rooms are from 90usd to 120usd with breakfast included. For simmilar value in Budapest you have to pay at least 30% more, but such spectacular view you can not get for even much higher price.

Recommended for singles, friends, business and especially couples!

Room Tip: All rooms are just perfect. But my choice is one of the two rooms on the top floor with balconies.

We asked for a room for 3 people and we got a double and a single bed. The beds were very comfortable. The room was very clean and very modern. It had all the amenities that you need for a short break. The bathroom and the shower were excellent. The best part of the room was the large window which had fabulous views over the Danube and straight across to the Parliament building. Such a great way to go to sleep and wake up feeling relaxed!
The breakfast in the morning was satisfying and plentiful. A selection of warm egg breakfasts followed by a continental selection. A great way to start the day.
Finally the location is excellent as it is close to all the main sites including the chain bridge, the castle palace and Fishermans Bastion.
I would recommend this place to anybody that stays in Budapest. A must!!!

We have just returned from 2 nights at the Hotel Victoria in Budapest. We booked after looking at reviews on trip advisor. We booked via Laterooms and on reading reviews, we contacted the hotel direct to ask for a balcon/corner room. Because we booked so far in advance we got a balcony room which was absolutely amazing. We were attracted by the floor to ceiling glass windows with a view of the Danube and the Parliament building - but the balcony was fabulous. It had a table and chairs and we felt very lucky. I'd say the balcony overtook the rooms with massive windows any day.
The rooms were spectacular, recently refurbished with lovely modern bathrooms. Satellite tv on the wall and minibar.
Breakfast was included which was lovely. Eggs and bacon on request. Budapest is split into two parts Buda and Pest. Buda is the old town and where this hotel is. One evening we got a taxi 4 euros across the river into Pest as we were tired of walking. First night we walked about 15 minutes left out of the the hotel along the river to Trofear Grill. All you can eat Hungarian buffet including drinks for 20 euros per person. It was amazing. We were really impressed with the standard of everything and the prices of everything is so reasonable.
Try using the Baths, we walked 30 mins right to Gellart baths and spent the day there. 11 euros per person, don't forget a towel and you have to buy a swimming cap if you are going into the main pool. If you go on a weekend it is mixed. So my husband joined me in the 36 and 38 degrees pools, steam room and relax areas. We went into the outside pool and hot tubs. It was lovely. A lovely, hotel and a lovely trip. Taxi from the airport is a fixed price of 22 euros. We did the open top bus trip for 48 hours and this was glorious. Take some good walking shoes as I stupidly thought Budapest was similar to Prague (quite small). It's not, it's massive. We also ate at the Iguana Mexican over in Pest which was great.
So much to see, we'd recommend the hop on hop off bus. Pick the pink/green one up by turning right out of the hotel and walking about 5 mins. The stop is by the roundabout of the Chain bridge and the Fernicular Railway.

Room Tip: ask for a corner/balcony room, you'll be blown away.

This is not the biggest hotel in Budapest but, it is the best! We stayed here for five nights after coming off a 14 day river cruise from Amsterdam with Scenic Cruises. This hotel sits on the Buda side of the Danube across from Parliament and down the street from the Chain Bridge with fantastic views of both. The rooms are large and modern and well furnished. Breakfast is a treat with a nice variety including made to order omelets and a delightful, English speaking hostess to keep you happy. From the minute you walk in the door and are warmly greeted by reception (Gabby in our case) you feel you have chosen the right hotel in Budapest. This hotel is a great jumping off place for most any tour or activity you choose. The only problem we had was weak wifi although it was free. We truly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend the Hotel Victoria to everyone.

Room Tip: Request an upper floor corner room.

We stayed in Hotel Victoria for 5 nights and loved this little boutique hotel. Location on Danube is wonderful and quiet. Breakfast both in service and food quality was excellent. Room was very comfortable. A number of small restaurants within walking distance and subway was a short walk and very easy to use when seeing sites on "Pest" side. Only minor problem was service at front desk when we initially arrived. As soon as we attempted "phrases" [ please, thank you etc ] in Hungarian-- service was excellent. Have been to Budapest number of times and will defintely choose this hotel on next visit

This was a great hotel - the staff were friendly and helpful, easy to walk to nearby attractions and views from rooms spectacular.

We stayed on the fourth floor overlooking River Danube. The rooms have huge windows giving the most wonderful view of the river and the beautiful neo-gothic Parliament building. Looks even better at night when everything is lit up. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great too, wide continental selection but also the choice of any eggs/bacon/sausage made fresh to order. We enjoyed omlettes every morning :)

The hotel is on the Buda side of the river which is a bit quieter, the Pest side is where most of the shops/bars/restaurants etc are. Although the advantage of being on the Buda side is that you can escape the city back to nice quiet hotel and enjoy the lovely view. Its not far to walk at all to Pest. The hotel is about 5min walk to the nearest bridge (Chain bridge) to take you across to the Pest side, but do take note of the symbols on paths for pedestrians (left) and cyclists (right) as they whizz by sometimes!!

Would recommend one of the 'hop on/hop off' bus tours, its really worth it to see all the highlights, learn a bit about the city and helps you decide which bits to visit in more detail.. Again the hotel reception staff were great and helped us choose which bus tour would be best for us (there are at least 3-4 different ones).

The hotel also has a happy hour every day - i think it was 1730-1830 - and also free tea/coffee between 1600-1700. There is no restaurant at the hotel but there is a bar.

We went to a couple of restaurants nearby the hotel, and also a couple in Pest. The ones visited nearby were 'Carne de Hall' and the 'Belgian Brasserie', both moments away from the hotel on same street. The Belgian place is right next door and offers a Flemish menu of 4 courses for 3900HUF (about £11?) which was good value and interesting to try - other dishes available of course, thats just what we had! This place also had an immense amount of beers to choose from - the beer menu is longer than the food menu. Atmosphere was busy and lively. Carne de Hall was about 200m up the street, and had very good reviews on the web. It was our last night and we both fancied the filet mignon but unfortunately when we ordered we were told there was no filet mignon available, so chose a stew instead and there was none of that either... eventually settled for our third choice on menu! Food was OK but i ended up with chicken breast and brussel sprouts which wasn't really what i wanted.. However this place had really good reviews so i think maybe we just caught them on a bad night?

Things we would recommend to see/do are Hop On/Hop Off bus, Budapest Zoo, Margit Island, Hero's Sq., St Stephens Basilica (esp. beautiful in evening and inside), Vaci St for shopping, West End area for nightlife, and Shoes on River Danube (opposite hotel on other side of river) was really beautiful and moving piece of art in rememberence of WWII.

We loved our stay in Budapest and would highly recommend Hotel Victoria for making our time there so relaxed and enjoyable.

Room Tip: Apparently there are rooms on the other side of the hotel looking away from river (?) so before we a...
