“Old hotel with an amazing view of Budapest”
Reviewed July 5, 2014

I had a room on the 17th floor for 1 night. The view from the room was breathtaking. The hotel was old but the room was clean. The service was fine. As one of the reviewers said, the mattress was uncomfortable. Good value for money. I would stay here again for private travel but not for hosting business clients.

We spent two nights here on our Budapest Trip. The hotel was picked for us by a friend in Hungary and didn't disappoint. It's an older but extremely well kept, and very clean property in a nice part of the City.

The check in staff are friendly and very helpful, extremely polite and all spoke English very well, we were welcomed with a huge smile and every member of the staff we met from the bell hop to the coffee room wait staff were happy and smiling a lot.

The currency exchange rate offered was very generous.

The hotel is on a main tram route and has easy access to everywhere. The view from our Hotel Room was a very nice view over the Danube River and the City and at night was spectacular.

We ate in the restaurant the night we arrived and it was reasonable and quite good, healthy sized portions of Hungarian Cuisine.

I would definitely stay here again, for the price paid it was a bargain.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the River View.

I spent one night with my wife in a suite (apartments with two rooms).
Mattress is terrible - like a trampoline. Pillow are silicone and very uncomfortable.
Heater made a lot of loud without any result.
Hotel is old, tied and dusty.

Breakfast was poor, uneventful.
Waiter are lazy boors. When we tried to take a tables waiter said that we should seat at another side of restaurant. When I noticed that all tables in that side are dirty he mimics me.
Another waiter start to clear tables in that side. When we take clear tables - she put dirty tablecloth in protest on the table between us.

Room Tip: Do NOT stay in this hotel..:)

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of out trip to Europe so this one was the first on our way. We left it very pleased and satisfied. Rooms were clean and well-equiped. Breakfasts were delicious! And the most important thing was that the patient and sincere stuff was always ready to help you. Thank you very much!

I would like to stay in this hotel. This hotel had friendly staff , a good breakfast . It did not have a minibar but thats okay. If you are looking for a late night coffee, you have to go the nearby student discos which may be a bit noisy. When I checked in the fitness center was under renovation . But overall it was a pleasant stay in the hotel. The rooms have very good views of Budapest Heros square across the Danube. One tip for trvellers , whi visit Budapest in general, If you are paying in cash, pay only in Forints. The reason being is that for a dinner of 3000 forints you can be charged 16 Auros when the actual price is less than 10. The location is nice near a main square , garden and lots of restaurants around.

Room Tip: While using restaurants , pay in Forints only.

Good location, good price, friendly staff, unusual shape. Aircon is not so cool and it is not great to ask you to pay extra for WIFI when you can get free WIFI almost everywhere in the city. I found a picture of my brother in the book they supplied about Hungary.

We visited Danubius Hotel Budapest for 2 nights just before Christmas on an organized trip. The hotel is big, a bit old-fashioned, but providing good value for money. We were on the 7th floor, in a cozy and perfectly warm room, though the weather was cool and misty. There was no noise from outside, as the room was looking over a quiet neighbourhood and even had a distant view to the Parliament. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. There is perfect transport connection with the central parts of Buda and Pest by tram or the metro from Szell Kalman ter (hope I wrote it correctly) for those who want to trip on their own and in Mammuth shopping centre there are various fast food restaurants, nice shops, bookshops and a big supermarket.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Stay at one of the capital’s iconic buildings! Hotel Budapest – formerly called Round Hotel – caused a major stir as soon as it was built. The high-rise circular building full of windows was considered an architectural oddball, and so in time became one of the symbols of Budapest and a favourite with visitors. With its 15 stories and 64 metres in height, it’s still the tallest hotel in the country. From its higher floors, you get a breathtaking panoramic view of the various landmarks of the Buda and Pest sides of the city. The hotel, located in green surroundings at the foot of the Buda hills, is an excellent choice whether you want to go sightseeing, or you’ve come for a professional event, or if you want to go for a walk in the Buda hills: the buses or trams stopping in front of the hotel will take you to the M2 metro in Széll Kálmán Square in a few minutes, and also to many nice place in Buda, without having to change. The cog-wheel railway, a major tourist attraction in itself, stops right opposite the hotel, offering easy access to the Buda hills. The nearby Városmajor park is a great place for long walks, jogging and other outdoor exercise. Those arriving by car or coach can park their vehicle in the car park in front of the hotel. ... more   less
