We spent 5 nights here in September and enjoyed the entire time. The rooms are clean, good size and what you would expect from Marriott. Try to get a room on the north wing where you will have the best view of the Danube and the Buda castle district. We were not in the north wing but still had a good view of the river and Buda on the other side. If you have access to the executive lounge be sure to take full advantage not only of the breakfast, heavy snacks and beverages in the evening but the fantastic balcony overlooking the Danube and castle on the other side. This has to be the best view in Pest.

The location is excellent for walking to most of the major sites and the pedestrian walkways are just behind the hotel. Plenty of restaurants to choose from within a couple of blocks from the hotel on the pedestrian walk. The tram goes right by the hotel and stops about a block away. All the staff we met at the hotel were friendly, helpful and spoke English. This is the only hotel in Prague we have stayed at but I can't imagine anything better.

Room Tip: North wing facing the river has the best view.

The Pest location of Marriott Budapest is wonderful. All rooms - large, comfortable and well appointed - not lush - have lovely views of the Danube with the hills of Buda beyond. Desk staff is helpful with excellent restaurant selections and assistance with maps. Really good restaurants are within walking distance. Breakfast buffet is fresh, tasty and has something for everyone. Great shopping and sightseeing nearby and it's a 5 minute walk to Vorosmarty Square - with outdoor cafes and good people watching. Catch the subway here (a snap with guidance from the helpful Marriott front desk to advise on the number of stops) to the Museum of Terror, and beyond that to the Opera, the Heroes' Square and Museum of Fine Arts. Buy subway tickets in the hotel gift shop; it's easier than understanding the underground machines. Marriott Budapest is also close to the Parliament Building and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, with the heart-grabbing Shoes on the Danube monument between them. If the weather permits, photography buffs will stroll to the food market before returning for an afternoon drink on the outdoor patio.

The Budapest Marriot is in a fantastic location with every room yielding a panoramic view of the Danube. Located on the Pest side of the river the hotel provides a perfect vantage of the much more beautiful Buda side (the view of the Marriot from Buda is not so easy on the eyes). The hotel is also within comfortable walking distance of all the main attractions including the castle, opera house and the Széchenyi baths (the last two are not to be missed).

So stunning was the view of the river that an early morning stroll at first light was worth setting the alarm for. Breakfast at Budapest Marriot is so good that that you will want/need to walk a lot.

The great view and location are the hallmarks of this property. Each room has a stunning view of the Danube River and Budda. The location is riverside and an easy walk to the main pedesterian mall. After touring Budapest I was certain the Marriott was the very best hotel location!!! I found the room to be of typical Marriott vintage. It was comfortable, quite, and funtional. However, it was not out of the ordinary. In summary, you will always remember the view but you will soon forget the room itself. If you qualify I suggest you opt for the senior rate. The only negatives are the high price for food and beverages in the hotel. They are certainly outragious when compared to prevaling prices in Budapest and even when contrasted to other Marriott hotels worlwide. There are many more reasonable options for dining and drinking nearby. Charging for wi-fi access is still a major complaint here as with other Marriott hotels.

Room Tip: Rooms in the north wing provide a better view that includes the castle across the Danube.

This was our last stop of a central Europe vacation. I was hesitant to book an American business hotel because we were looking for charm and adventure. Since our young adult daughter was meeting us and staying with us for a few nights we decided to go ahead and book at Marriott so we could be certain to get a room with at least 2 beds. The location was great, central to the things we wanted to do and see. The hotel has a modern feel and look unlike the buildings surrounding it (Personally I am not sure this is a good thing.) Upon check in the lobby was pretty packed with tourists checking in and out. After a short wait we got our room - which although it was what we asked for - was quite disappointing. It had 2 double beds and a rollaway. It had a view of the river but not of the castle. There was absolutely no room to move. We went to inquire about getting a room with a queen/king and a roll away thinking there might be more room. For an additional charge we were offered a suite with executive privileges which we grabbed. The suite was spacious but weird. It had a king size bed and they brought a roll away. It had a dining table with 6 cushioned arm chairs. It had a desk and another easy chair - but no real sitting area. No sofa. Not sure what one would ever do with a dining table for 6. There was a counter with a coffee maker and a mini bar. The bathroom was totally unremarkable. The view was of the river but again not of the castle . Executive privileges were well worth the price. Breakfast, snacks, hot appetizers, beer, wine, spirits, and a beautiful outdoor patio on the 10th floor overlooking the river. Service in the lounge was impeccable. There was also a computer and free wifi. it was a nice stay - but nothing about the hotel screams Budapest.
