What a fantastic city. Have dinner in Spoons restaurant. It is a boat which is docked beside chain bridge. Watch the lights of Buda Castle and chain bridge as you eat wonderful food at great prices. Visit St. STEPHENS Bascillica. Go have a spa treatment in Hotel Saint Gillert. Fantastic.

Being a fan of the Marriott chain of hotels, when i visited Budapest, i saw a great price for it for the dates I was visiting, and it was located in the perfect place right on the Danube river front. I've never had a bad experience at a Marriott hotel so far.

The location was just absolutely perfect, a few mins walk to quite a few of the sites we wanted to visit (Gresham Palace, Chain Bridge, Budda Bar Restaurant) as well as being within a mile of nearly all the sites on my list.

We rarely had to use the hotel staff (which is a great sign) apart from when ordering dinner in the restaurant named Poppers, where the staff were very polite and quick.

The rooms were very clean. The AC wasn't quite as powerful as we required during the time we went where the temperatures were mid-30's. But it was just about okay enough.

The views from the window at night are just as stunning as the daytime views. The Chain bridge is beautifully lit up.

At the end of our stay in the very early hours of the morning I checked out and ordered a taxi to the airport and, in my tired state, paid the full taxi fare twice. Once at the hotel desk and again to the taxi driver when he dropped us off. I phoned the hotel from the airport soon after and they were happy to refund the desk charge which I thought was very good of them.

Room Tip: All rooms face the river, but try and get a room on the higher floors for the best views of the Danu...

This is a fantastic hotel and it would seem all rooms overlook the Danube. Stayed here on business but intend to go back for a long weekend and stay here for sure. Service is first class and everything clean and spacious. Peppers restaurant/grill menu is a bit boring but plenty of choice elsewhere. Breakfasts are among the best I've had anywhere. One of the main squares only a few minutes walk away

Every room in this hotel has a view! We were on the 9th floor with the view as per the picture. The staff was very helpful. My traveling companion has Marriott privs and we got to use the Executive Lounge, which if you get the chance is well worth whatever it takes! The hotel is located right on the water so sitting outside for a drink is lovely. It's in a great location, so close to Vaci Utca.

My husband and I stayed here following a river cruise and decided to take the advice of a fellow cruiser's earlier review and book this hotel with executive lounge access. What a wonderful place to stay with fabulous views over the Danube, excellent service, and nice, large rooms. We were able to walk everywhere or just sit on the lovely executive lounge terrace and relax. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Splurge and upgrade to executive lounge access.

The Marriott Budapest is on the Danube with great views of the river, bridges and across the river to "Buda" part of city. We upgraded to a corner Jr Suite that was fantastic. The room was beautiful, comfortable and clean. The location on the river walk is great. Don't miss the covered market, take the tram outside the hotel and in two stops you are there!!

We stayed in July and got a great deal (I hope!) from Trivago at £55/night room only. Took the bus and metro from the airport (visitor terrace closed, shame!) and got confused by the not-quite-finished metro at Kőbánya-Kispest (if you want to get cheap stuff like bottled water, go over the road into the mall and go into Tesco) but managed anyway to get the weekly tkt that was needed. Then it is one change and a short walk from Vörösmarty tér to the hotel.

This hotel began life as the Duna Intercontinental in 1969 and got to be a Marriott in about 1993 and to be honest it is a typical Marriott where most things are simply too expensive if they're not in the room rate. The big advantage here is that this hotel is in the best location possible and there are no rooms on the back of the hotel. So every room without exception has the glorious view across the river. The first morning that we were there we watched the bug-eyed Vienna hydrofoil setting off from just down river, so close that we could have touched it!

For getting around using public transport this place is pretty much close to ideal. Deák Ferenc tér metro hub is only 5 minutes away. Then you can go where you want! The tram that goes up and down the river bank also stops just by the hotel.

My only quibble at this hotel is that the air-con took a while to get going (about a day) and you should leave it on 24/7.

Room Tip: They all have the view, but higher is better
