We chose to stay in this hotel as we went to a wedding in it's close neighborhood.... the receptionists were slow and exaggeratedly unfriendly, speaking with irritated voices and lacking manners. Good start, we said.
The room (superior, French bed room) was a simple one with old and deteriorated furniture, an extremely soft bed (I am sure it is beyond healthy limits, too) dirty covers, curtains logging out from the support, very old, non functioning shower tap, deteriorated mirror on the bathroom's wall. Armchairs were dusty and probably properly cleaned last year or so, plugs were not functioning (except for the one near the water boiler).
Trying to have a drink at the bar was a simple thing, as we did not have what to choose from, to be honest. Beer, whiskey or a very poor quality vodka. Enough, actually ....
The cherry on the pie was the much-advertised breakfast for which we paid separately and was so terrible, we still are sorry for not having ordered pizza in the room. Dirty tables, one young, disoriented young man alone with a full -of-tourists restaurant, dried cheese and ham on the plates, no forks and no glasses available, tables piling remains from previous guests and a general chaos all around.
I would describe the package as of a 2 -stars pensions in the poorest countryside, but with an elevator and a spa (which we did not check at all, to be honest). No way we go back or recommend it!!

Room Tip: Choose rooms in another hotel!

My gf and I stayed at the Aquincum for 2 nights in August 2017. The room was alright and the toilet was impressively clean. The corridors to the rooms were however in a poor condition. The food of the breakfast buffet was tasty with a nice selection of Hungarian treats with an omelette counter. However, we were appalled by the staff. We left a night earlier - as we decided to have a different experience in Budapest in a different part of town. We had booked through a package and did ask if we could get a night refund (just to try our luck) and the receptionist had promised she would write to our travel agent saying that she would tell them we had checked out. To our surprise, she had reported to say that we had not checked out and for no reason! We were quite surprised by this as we had checked out and had returned our key cards, and settled a laundry bill. Furthermore, the staff during the breakfast buffet looked overworked and lacked any enthusiasm or friendliness. This was a shame as the hotel itself was alright otherwise. The spa facilities were nice with a thermal pool, and the staff there were actually pleasant. It is also close to the tram and the Kehli restaurant, which is a quaint Hungarian traditional restaurant. I hope Aquincum sorts out their staff issue soon.

I visit this hotel often.
The hotel lobby and the reception desk were not air conditioned and was unbearably hot.

This time because I was with a baby I took a suite for a weekend.

The suite is beautiful, clean and spacious but the bed mattress is of a very low standard and the quality of the hostel is cheap.

I went to the reception in the morning and promised to change my mattress.

When we returned from the trip and arrived at the room, we discovered that nothing had changed.

Unfortunately, I had to move to another hotel even though I paid for a room for another night.

The manager of the service was nice and compensated us with a small refund but it was not enough because we had to pay another hotel for the extra night.

Even in the spa area I know from before, the pools were not heated as it says, and the Jacuzzi did not work at all.

It's a shame, because this hotel was my favorite for my business trips and now it was on a family trip that disappointed me.

Room Tip: Do not take the suite rooms.

I was extremely disappointed with this hotel having previously stayed in a four star I expected more from a five star. In the main the staff were very helpful. The room was nothing special but clean to be truthful it was a bit dated

The breakfast was ok but staff didn't clear the tables and it didn't matter what time you went it was always the same they constantly ran out of fruit juice and hot water. They did have an omelet bar but it took about 15 -20 minutes to get one.

It is quite a long way out of town but there is public transport a minute away which is very efficient and there is also a hotel shuttle three times a day

There is nothing wrong with the hotel that a little organization it could be much better just no way close to a five star

I would not stay here again but pick a hotel nearer to the city centre
