“Terrible way of charging for additional services”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

All in all, the hotel was fine. Nothing fancy, nothing horribly wrong. The policy for charging payment on extra services on the other hand was down right wrong. They have a custom of demanding an advance cash deposit in case of mini bar purchases, property damage, breakfast or restaurant use. We stayed at the aquincum for four days, which summed up to 40.000HUF, or about 140€. There was no mention of this policy at the time we booked our room. Now, if it took a day for them to dismiss the deposit off your bank account, that I could accept, but it's been two weeks now and they still haven't managed to return it. You don't have to use a dime and they still take your money for half a month. The system they use may be convenient for them, but It certainly isn't for their customers, and that's not exactly the way it's supposed to work in the hotel business.

The hotel was spotless and the location is priceless. The hotel is located close to the river and is easy to get to in the O Buda area. We would recommend this hotel to anyone that would travel to the Budapest area. The service was very good here.

I went to Buda with my mum for our birthdays, it was one of the best holidays I have had.
The hotel is lovely and it's in a great location... Not too close to the hustle and bustle but close enough so it's not a long journey in. The hotel is so close to a train station that takes you to where you want to go.

We only had breakfast in the hotel one morning (my birthday), the only negative I would say about the hotel was that I thought the breakfast was slightly overpriced.
We ate in the hotel for a couple of evenings and the evening food was absolutely delicious and priced well. It was great to just spend in the hotel and have everything put onto the tab to pay at the end of the stay.
The spa area was lovely, we only managed a few hours in there because we was busy sight seeing.
Free wifi in the rooms which is an added bonus... Most hotels will only offer free wifi in the lobby areas so was great to not be restricted with that.
We loved our room, it was overlooking the river, it was so peaceful and it was spacious.

I absolutely loved Budapest and the hotel.

Nice and helpful staff. The hotel is modern and clean, and the Spa is very good.

Our room was clean and spacious (superior room), and the staff replenished our tea, coffee and mineral water supplies for free, every day.

The location of the Hotel is not a big problem, because there is a direct connection to the public transport (suburban railway - HÉV, and Trams, Buses), so you'll be in the city center in like max 20 minutes.

So it's a nice hotel, we had a pleasant stay.

All in all a very nice hotel. Large reception area with a bar off to the right hand side. Drinks quite expensive but that tends to be the case in any hotel no matter where you are. Room clean and comfortable. Only gripe with the room was with shower head and hose which spewed water beyond the glass screen wetting the floor. Nice dining area and extensive breakfast catering for all tastes. Staff very attentive. Nice looking spa facilities too but didn't get use them due to our own hectic schedule so unable to comment further.

Strongly recommend this hotel. Arrived very late at night for an early morning meeting, so it was literally a room for 6 hours and a quick breakfast, but the hotel didn't let me down. Very friendly staff (even for a 1am check-in), spacious room, quiet, clean, and overall very good value for money. Breakfast was OK too...in an East European sort of way. Hotel provided a taxi in the morning for me - also good value.

We stayed here for a 5 day break during the Hungarian F1. On arrival nothing was a problem. Courteous staff and bags taken to room by porter, with an explanation of facilities. We only ate breakfast at hotel, but excellent choice, good standard and staff happy, even omlettes and pancakes cooked to order and your liking. Pools and Spa excellent. Room was good, but A/C just could not keep room cool, it was 42deg outside temp. Overall happy with the hotel, although Drinks are very overpriced at the bar, and the service charge is included on your bill!!
