Great place to get a typical Hungarian pastry. You can choose the flavour you like (poppy seed, chocolate, almonds, vanila, etc.) even though the most famous is Cinnamon.

This is really Hungarian. I really enjoyed the Kurtoskalacs. I tried them many places in Hungary. They even had them at the Sziget Festival. Molnar's are one of the best anywhere. Be sure to try.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the bakery's traditional Hungarian donut-like baked good, but that is basically all there is--no fancy pastries, no coffee concoctions or ice creams, and the neighborhood is less than pleasing--sort of seedy. There is no ambiance here to speak of, and we were just so disappointed after having seen this place rated as the number one bakery in Budapest by Trip Advisor reviewers. We literally schlepped all over to get here, and the Trip Advisor's application had a gps locator that placed the bakery on the wrong side of the street--a street that was undergoing major construction. It was dusty and noisy and we had to traverse the street by way of an underground passage--we were definitely in the mood to take a break in a beautiful bakery/cafe, and we would have ordered more, except that the menu was as sparse as the baked goods case. Why did we come here, again?
