We went to Budapest for only 3 days and this was exactly what we needed. Rooms were spacious and clean. Bed was big and very comfortable! Amazing location just 10 mins walking from the city centre and 5 mins from the bars and clubs. The bathroom was shared what usually it's not the best but this one was clean all the times. The only bad thing was the heating, although it was on the maximum level it was still not very hot. The staff was great, very helpful.

This is a great low-cost place to stay. The staff were friendly and helpful with directions, finding out how to get bus tickets etc. The walls were a little thin and the doors had gaps under them that let in a lot of noise from other guests in the hallway. It didn't really help that there was an opera singer staying down the hallway who insisted on warming up in the early morning. (Fantastic singer, just not what you want to wake up to every morning!) The rooms were quite basic but that was what we were looking for in order to stick to our small accommodation budget for our trip. All in all a great place to stay if you are looking for an affordable city center based hotel.

As stated in the website, it is a 3star hotel. But the interior seems like they dont deserve any stars.Firstly, the staff asks us to fill in the forms ourselves instead, unlike other hotels staff who will fill in the details patiently during the check in. Secondly, the walls of the whole guesthouse seems like made up of thin paper only. Every footsteps and conversations can be heard clearly. Thridly, the staff didnt clean the room thoroughly. The bedsheet was dirty and also the floor. I think they dont even sweep the floor as the floor is full with the guests? hairs. They dont provide hairdryer as stated as well. The heater in the room is just an decoration, the central heating doesnt on at all. The only good point is the water is hot enough for showering during autumn. The tv in the room is the most proper thing can be found. So please avoid this guesthouse.

City Center Guesthouse...I don't know where to begin... I reserved a room on Kayak, but when I got to the hotel, the 2nd-floor room they gave me had no A/C. I retuned to the desk, and the receptionist came up to have a look. No, she confirmed, there was no A/C--but she said I had not requested it in my booking. Why would I, I asked? The hotel description said they had A/C! She moved me to a 5th-floor room, which was an all-around nicer room. Clearly, renovations had not been made to 2nd-floor rooms.

The walls at this place are paper thin. One can hear absolutely everything in adjacent rooms and down the hall. The doors could be tricky to close/lock without making noise, so you'd hear those all night, too.

The shared bathrooms were OK--at least they were basically clean and had toilet paper and paper towels. But the shower stall was not so nice. The plastic curtain was so long it blocked the water from draining, as, I suspect, did all the hair running down the drains. I wore shower slippers.
The elevator broke down a couple times during my 5-night stay, but I was not much inconvenienced by it.

The TV worked fine and had a number of English-language channels, including SkyNews and CNN. There were also a couple of porn channels, which surprised me, since there was nothing advising this; anyone traveling with children might want to take control of the remote.

Housekeeping leaves much to be desired. On my second day, I was waiting for the elevator (not knowing it was broken), and I noticed that the maid had left all the room keys, labeled with room numbers, on a chair in the hall. (She was downstairs.) On my fourth night, I left the damp, dirty towels on the floor to indicate they needed to be replaced. When I returned to my room, the maid had spread them on the bed and placed the folded duvet on top! Checking the room to see if I had left anything behind, I looked under the bed, which obviously had not been cleaned in a long time.

I was awakened on my last day at about 6am by the man across the hall shouting obscenities at someone, accusing them of stealing his money, and asking why they were in his bed. It turned out that he had gone outside for a smoke and left his door unlocked. A drunk guest had entered his room, thinking it was his own, and got into the bed. I called the front desk, in the hope of putting a quick end to the ruckus, only to discover that the receptionist was already in that room, apparently doing little to quell the chaos. Incredible. On previous days, there were young guests (20ish?) getting drunk and making a lot of noise in their room, locking each other out "for fun," slamming doors, and horsing around in the hall, even during the day and evening, when you'd expect them to be out somewhere.

The location is convenient to Octagon--and, perhaps poetically, House of Terror is on the corner--but beyond that, I can't recommend this place. It's impossible to get a decent night's sleep, one doesn't feel the rooms are secure, and it's not terribly clean.

I did not get breakfast there, nor did I see anyone else dine there at any point.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a newly renovated room.

Hotel was basic accommodation, but clean and quiet, shared bathroom was very clean, showers excellent and never saw anyone else using it. Good base if you are staying for a short break in Budapest. I stayed here with my boyfriend first weekend in June, for 3 days, we were out all day so just went back at night which was just want we needed, a clean, basic, inexpensive base from where to explore the city. Reception staff were helpful and friendly. A gem!
