The Hungarian Parliament tours must be taken in groups with different languages offered at different times (e. g., English: 10/12/2) and you may find that the tour you want is sold out and you must take a later tour. Since there are no real other sights or places to eat near that area, you might want to get a tasty snack at this patisserie while you wait or after your tour is over. Szalai offers two items that we had that were very good. Meggyes retes is a cherry strudel and Svajci kifli is like a croissant with sugar icing on top and ground walnuts inside. Both real treats. Also available is a small selection of gelato. According to an August BBC article, the cafe has been a favorite with protestors at the Parliament taking a break from their hard work. The location is just north of the Parliament grounds and several blocks in from the river with a sign out front on the right side of the street. Historic photos on the walls and small cafe tables complete the picture. Cute place.
