It's a nice historic cafeteria located in the Alexandra bookstore. There are great ceeiling decorations and mirrors. They have delicious desserts and lots of coffees.
Unfortunately it's expensive and they don't accept credit cards.

This is a renovated fabulous building. The main attraction is the large room with 19th century frescoes. Great to sit in the comfy leather armchairs...Shame that the service is slow and unfriendly. I take my friends from the UK to see it each time we visit, and quietly hope that the service improved, but no such luck...Worth exploring the other floors (great modern art gallery to buy stuff, bookshop, wine shop).

Go here firstly for the beautiful, elegant room and secondly because the servers are efficient and knowledgable. I have tried many of the savory dishes, soups are great, eggplant is delicious, sweets were the let down for me.
Coffees and drinks are also good.
Its a must visit for me whenever I come to Budapest.

We went to this place in late morning instead of having a breakfast at the hotel. The location of the cafe is outstanding along Andrassy ut, hidden on tje second floor of a bookshop. The menu includes a nice selection of both savory and sweet options. We enjoyed in particular the dark hot chocolate and the chestnut cream dessert.

Atop af a huge bookstore, curiously also selling some wines by the bottle, this is a very nice big hall with high ceilings, piano music, good sandwiches and very average pastry and coffee.
