“Great cafe”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Very elegant experience, having lunch in this restored cafe in what used to be a department store. It's on Andrassy Ut - if you pass it, do go inside - it's worth a look.

“Magnificent setting, bored staff.”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Setting was amazing - staff were not the most pleasant we experienced, they looked bored, and were not very helpful.

“More than a Bookstore”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

Well worth a visit, even if you are just passing by. This impressive building is a book store and wine shop on the ground floor. A gallery and cafe on the first floor. There is lots to see and do, you can spend as little or as much time as you want in the Alexandra Bookstore.

“my favourite spot in Budapest”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

This building has a long history - it has always been a luxury shopping mall, 100 years ago there was an ice rink on its top floor. Now it is a huge bookstore with a classic café on the 1st floor. There are lot of English art books on level 1. The whole place is like a sanctuary for book lovers.

“Hidden Beauty!”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

We only knew of this after seeing Trip Advisor before visiting. Our hotel was nearby so we popped in to look at the fabulous ceiling in the coffee shop. A strange and surprising combination, wine store, bookshop, coffee house and then the interesting gallery higher up. We meant to go back and sample the coffee and cakes but ran out of time.......next time!
