Owner description: The Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum is a thrilling, unique and moving place. Visitors can learn about the WWII and the 1956 revolution as well as the Cold War in relation to this former TOP SECRET nuclear bunker. It had an important role during the war and it was classified until 2002 and opened as a museum in 2008. The place ensures a real time warp into the past. Mobiles are not working inside. Do not expect a regular museum. One hour long tour departs every hour in English. Guide books are available in several languages. Unforgettable experience underneath the Castle Hill. The entrance is only about 5 minutes walk from the famous Matthias-Church of Buda Castle.

Really interesting and hidden out of the way but worth the trip! Although be aware tours are every half hour and have to go on one.

“Very interesting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

Would definitely recommend a visit here. The tour is an hour long with a guide...very interesting and informative. Only downside was that you can't take pictures. Little gem and handy that it opens until 8pm. Not the easiest place to find but worth the hunt!

“Fascinating underground hospital”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

Follow your guide and wander through the slightly claustrophobic underground hospital. Although it was only used for a short period during wartime, it has a remarkable history. All rooms are intact and very well decorated to give you a clear view on how it was 50 years ago. The nuclear shelter and machine room are interesting too. We had an excellent English speaking guide.

“Difficult to find but worth the search”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013 via mobile

Gives you an insight into the 19oos history of this city that was engulfed with wars.

Our tour guide was clear and gave us many interesting facts.

Tickets were a little on the expensive side compare to other attractions.

“Brilliant way to spend an hour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

Brilliant attraction. Adds to your knowledge of modern day budapest during the second world war and beyond. Could have spent a whole deal longer in there but this is a tour and a quick one at that, found myself wanting to call out to the guide to slow down. Reason for it being a tour is the way the attraction is structured. To make it more authentic they have left as much of it as it would have been during its operation which means it really comes to life, however it also means there is lots of things that can be touched, pressed etc so a guide is essential to ensure the continued authenticity.
