Owner description: The Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum is a thrilling, unique and moving place. Visitors can learn about the WWII and the 1956 revolution as well as the Cold War in relation to this former TOP SECRET nuclear bunker. It had an important role during the war and it was classified until 2002 and opened as a museum in 2008. The place ensures a real time warp into the past. Mobiles are not working inside. Do not expect a regular museum. One hour long tour departs every hour in English. Guide books are available in several languages. Unforgettable experience underneath the Castle Hill. The entrance is only about 5 minutes walk from the famous Matthias-Church of Buda Castle.

Very educational and interesting. Amazing to walk through and imagine what it was like when in use. Wax mannequins and actual equipment as you traverse the cave leave a real impression. And they give military discount with an ID.

There are many positives, starting with the staff, who are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They were kind enough to admit our family at the family price even though our children are above the age of 18 -- but more on that in a minute. The sheer spectacle of the caves and equipment within is definitely memorable and worth seeing. It looks like they are setting up for additional video presentations within the cave, which would be very useful, as the introductory video shown is interesting.

But... there's the cost. At 3600 Ft (~US$16) per adult (7200 Ft for a family of 4), that's just a lot of money when compared to many other attractions in Budapest. Our tour had roughly 40 people on it, which is a bit unwieldy as well. Perhaps the video monitors will enable this to be a bit more self-service.

Glad to have seen it, but while we have repeated visits with guests to many other attractions, the cost and our "just OK" reaction to this one means we'll not repeat it ourselves, and it would be one of the first things I'd jettison from an overcrowded itinerary.

Very well presented and interesting exhibition. a MUST, if you are visiting Budapest. It gives you a very good overview of the Hungarian history too. It was a bit pricey, but it was definitely worth it.

A tad overpriced and too full to take it all in this has so much potential and if you are a nurse or a doctor or an engineer or even a history buff then this place has it all. The links with nazi germany and communism were such an eye opener and sas in so many ways but its an important piece of history which as a tourist attraction could be improved upon

Very well presented Museum which due to its authentic location is an absolute treat to those who maintain even a minor interest in European history. The tour guide spoke very good English and kept it interesting at all times while other staff at the establishment were enthusiastic and friendly. The exhibition itself is flawlessly presented and is akin to the "secret wartime tunnels" at Dover Castle.

Overall, this is a truly great way to spend an hour or two while one is in the castle district.
