“WOW!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2012

We stayed here on the first part of our honeymoon.
Our room was huge and tastefully decorated in a contemporary style and the staff were helpful and friendly.
The spa downstairs was nice way to unwind at the end of a day walking around the city.

The hotel is located close to the main square where all the tour buses & underground trains go from but just far enough away from the hustle and bustle so an excellent place to base yourself.

We didn't eat in the hotel itself but found there to be lots of places nearby, cheaper ones were "left" through the park as you leave the hotel.

In summary, a very nice hotel at a very reasonable price in a great location. Worth considering if you want to treat yourself in Budapest.

After a huge amount of searching we finally settled on this hotel and the research was definitely worth it. The hotel is very funky, rooms huge ( and we have stayed in a lot of hotels all over the world) and very cool. The hotel location is in the nicest part of Budapest with lots of restaurants etc in easy walking distance. We walked everywhere. We found a great wine bar that became our local just round the corner - Innio. Hotel has a lovely outdoor seating area for a drink/food.
Didn't eat in the restaurant as it was always quiet.
Would recommend getting a breakfast inclusive rate.
Will definitely go back with no hesitation if we go back to Budapest.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the square

We have just returned from a long weekend at the Iberostar in Budapest. We cannot recommend it highly enough. Greated in a beautiful reception with huge chairs and orange juice or sparkling water, Superb hotel with fantastic huge rooms with beautiful modern decor. Huge bath and even bigger canopied bed! It was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in on holiday, had a superb night's sleep. Electric curtains, floor to ceiling windows, coffee machine separate bathroom, shower and toilet. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice and freshly cooked. The staff are all friendly and very helpful especially reception girls and Alex. The spa is great located in the basement with a sauna and steam room included in the price. It is located within walking distance of most attractions. It has a fountains outside which are fun to walk in. Located well for the Danube and also the Opera House. We went to see the ballet at the Opera, well worth a visit, and bus trip around Budapest is a definate to do! There is so much to see, such fantastic heritage we couldnt fit it all in. We very rarely go back anywhere we have been as there are so many places in the world to see, but this is a definate one for us to return to. One word of warning, do not use the taxis outside the Opera House or any of them that are not linked to the hotels. We were ripped off on the price of a taxi and paid 3 times as much as we should have even though we agreed the price beforehand, Other than that, we had a fabulous time in Budapest and a very beautiful hotel. Our room was 301 top floor.

Room Tip: Not sure what tip to give we were very happy with our room which was situate on the top floor number...

Stayed here for a week. Booked through Jet2 so were expecting basic room but were allocated room on top floor overlooking square. Best hotel room I've ever been in - floor to ceiling windows with electric curtains, huge bed, coffee machine, massive bathroom with free standing bath and separate shower and toilet rooms. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout. Great choice at breakfast with buffet and also hot food cooked to order - everything of the highest quality. Perfect location for exploring Budapest. One small downside was the issue with the airconditioning which does not cool the room sufficiently. We were assured that this is being worked on.

Room Tip: Top floor facing square was great

Brand new property close to major sights. Given choice of water still or sparkling or orange juice at check in (nice touch). Great staff, checked in around 5 and i assume hotel was nearly full as we got I suspect a very nice upgrade to a top floor room, which was fab even electric curtains. Beautiful large bathroom, and views. Cool decor think W with a spanish twist. Very nice spa area. So far so god here for 2 more nights.

Room Tip: check in late and hope they run out of regular rooms...

We have just arrived back from Budapest and stayed five days at the Iberostar Grand. We had a wonderful stay there and it made our trip to Budapest one of our most enjoyable city breaks.

Firstly, the welcome was second to none. We were sat down at the reception desk and offered refreshments and were then speedily checked in and taken up to our room. We booked a Junior Suite which was massive. Quirky décor from the reception area’s Alice in Wonderland feel to a contemporary four poster bed with red and black furniture in our room. Our room had plenty of seating, a well stocked bar, good lighting, large storage cupboards and one of the biggest bathrooms I’ve ever experienced in a hotel with a standalone bath, separate shower area and separate WC. The bed was also huge (Superking size?) and very comfortable.

The sound proofing in the hotel was one of its best features in my opinion. We overlooked the square and there was actually a music festival on for most of our stay. Whilst the secondary glazing couldn’t block out all the noise of a rock band, it did a pretty good job and the noise levels were of little concern to us. The music stopped before 11pm and although there were still hundreds of people in the square, very little noise was transmitted into our room. Normally you also hear other hotel guests, from the corridor, from above etc; not so in this hotel. We were told the hotel was 95% full but we never heard a thing from other guests and had some of the best sleeps ever in a hotel.

Another great asset the hotel has is their staff. From the manageress to the waiting staff, they have got it spot on in my opinion. Everyone was professional, friendly, happy to share information on their city, greeted you warmly (without exception) and generally made you feel welcome. We actually experienced this throughout Budapest, everyone seemed genuinely happy to help. London, Paris, New York - take note!

Breakfast was exceptional. We are both vegetarian and we were spoilt for choice which is not usually the case. There was a cold buffet with a large choice and also a hot menu to order from, including omelettes, scrambled eggs etc. Sparkling wine was also included in the breakfast menu if required!

Whilst we didn’t eat in the restaurant at night (too many choices nearby) we did use the bar with a great outdoor seating which was a perfect spot to people watch. The waiters again couldn’t be more helpful and remembered which wine we enjoyed. They even looked after a half finished bottle of wine for us until the next night; how many top hotels would do that free of charge?

I used the spa one afternoon and was pleasantly surprised at how well equipped it was. I was the only person there which was a bonus!

The hotel’s location in my opinion couldn’t be better. Parliament, the Basilica, the Chain Bridge, the main shopping streets etc. were all within easy walking distance. There are some gritty neighbourhoods in every city, and Budapest has its share of these, however this particular location felt very clean, very safe and had a great buzz. On Oktober itself there were many great bars and restaurants, we ate twice in an Italian place two blocks away (next to the soldier statue) which was brilliant. The café in the middle of the square opposite also did great food and coffee.

I’d recommend hiring bikes and using the city’s cycle lanes. We cycled around Margaret Island which was almost traffic free. These guys were brilliant (www.bikebase.hu) and for around 5GBP you get a 6 hour hire which was plenty for us. We tried a company located in the Millennium Centre, off Vaci, first however their shop was hard to find and they weren’t even open.

We also went to the famous Széchenyi Baths which are located in the City park, not to be missed. Take a towel, some sun cream, some drinking water and flip flops. Pay for a locker on arrival and you avoid the queues inside to deposit your valuables. We paid for two sun beds which were fairly cheap (3GBP each per day) and seemed to be in demand when it’s busy. Get there in the morning to secure a good spot!

All in all a fantastic trip to Budapest and made memorable by our stay at the Iberostar Grand. Highly recommended!

Nice, clean and modern hotel, good furniture and excellent views on the square from the top floors. Breakfast really amazing - widest choice one might have in any top hotel! Apart from typically spanish cold cuts (jamon, spanish cheese plates, salmon, tortilla, all types of bocadillas and pastries) they offer hot meal like pancakes, all types of eggs, of course, sausages, beans etc. Freshly squeezed juice and excellent capuccino!
Our room was cleaned perfectly every day, plus after our visit to the SPA area we found nice goodnight wishes on our beds.
We booked it at promotional rate, so value for money was really above expectations! Location great, as well - close to the main attractions of the city and the Chain Bridge to cross the river.
Highly advised
