Description: Pest-Buda doubles with Grandma’s homestyle Hungarian kitchen, using the best ingredients with love and care from our talented chef, Lajos Lutz . We only carry Hungarian wines rich with personality and like to highlight those special bottles that are the territory of true wine aficionados. Pest-Buda Bistro is on the ground floor of Pest-Buda Hotel, the oldest hotel in Hungary, originally opened in 1696. Pest-Buda is an important gastronomic institution honoring Grandma’s Hungarian kitchen for several decades. Together with Zsolt Litauszki we have worked for months to rediscover several Hungarian recipies and master the art of baking the perfect artisanal flamed pie. Chef Lajos Lutz is running a soulful kitchen devoted to Grandma’s Hungarian classics made with love and care. The combination of top-notch gastronomy and beautiful wines is both fresh and traditional without succumbing to typical Hungarian restaurant cliches. The whole experience is, of course, amplified by the Buda Castle’s stunning medieval setting. We only carry Hungarian wines and only those with a distinctive personality, reflective of a distinctive wine region. We feature several rare selections often not found anywhere else, and our extensive list is constantly changing. Pest-Buda is for You to enjoy 24 hours. Eat, drink, sleep… with love!

My husband and I dined at Pest Buda at the recommendation of the concierge of the Hilton and could not have been more pleased. The food was wonderful delicacies that were cooked perfectly. Exceptional service and friendly staff made our dinner complete. You won't be disappointed

“Well crafted meals”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

Our starter set the standard for a really enjoyable meal. It was a superb chicken paprika dish which we both followed up with a further chicken dish as the main. Not adventurous stuff but the cooking was excellent and full of flavour. For desert the strudel was enjoyable as well. The added bonus of music was also a nice touch. Good value meal of a very decent standard.

“Average food quality”
Reviewed September 9, 2013 via mobile

The food was OK and was nicely presented, the service average. The place was decorated with colorful funiture and had a great location. Price was not too expensive. But all in all average and didn't give the greatest impression.

“Nice food and service”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

Typical Hungarian fare, beautifully presented. A sweet little restaurant in the Castle district a short walk from our hotel, Hotel Castle Garden (a great little hotel by the way). Fantastic food, great service. Reminded me of what my grandmother used to make.

“A tiny gem near the Buda Castle”
Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

We walked just a short distance from the Hilton Budapest in the Castle district and found this small restaurant. We were met graciously by a waiter who let us walk through and showed us to a charming table. Seating outside is offered but the street was a tad too busy for our liking.
We chose a couple of house specialties which were delicious (pâté, pumpkin soup, duck, lamb) and a wonderful bottle of Hungarian white wine. The owner has two more restaurants on this street- "21" and "Pierrot"). We always try to avoid the tourist hot spots and this was perfect.
