Description: Pest-Buda doubles with Grandma’s homestyle Hungarian kitchen, using the best ingredients with love and care from our talented chef, Lajos Lutz . We only carry Hungarian wines rich with personality and like to highlight those special bottles that are the territory of true wine aficionados. Pest-Buda Bistro is on the ground floor of Pest-Buda Hotel, the oldest hotel in Hungary, originally opened in 1696. Pest-Buda is an important gastronomic institution honoring Grandma’s Hungarian kitchen for several decades. Together with Zsolt Litauszki we have worked for months to rediscover several Hungarian recipies and master the art of baking the perfect artisanal flamed pie. Chef Lajos Lutz is running a soulful kitchen devoted to Grandma’s Hungarian classics made with love and care. The combination of top-notch gastronomy and beautiful wines is both fresh and traditional without succumbing to typical Hungarian restaurant cliches. The whole experience is, of course, amplified by the Buda Castle’s stunning medieval setting. We only carry Hungarian wines and only those with a distinctive personality, reflective of a distinctive wine region. We feature several rare selections often not found anywhere else, and our extensive list is constantly changing. Pest-Buda is for You to enjoy 24 hours. Eat, drink, sleep… with love!

“Hungarian homefood bistro de luxe”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

Although we arrived late, we were welcomed most gently in this very inviting bistro-restaurant, located in one of Budapest's most attractive streets. They serve traditional Hungarian dishes in a very well done classical-bright interior where you immediately feel at home and sit quietly.
Staff was very friendly, and the food was tasty. Sadly it was already late and it was our last day and we had to pack, would have stayed longer and took a bigger menu otherwise.
We highly advise this bistro-restaurant for people who are looking for good Hungarian food and some romantic dining, and not necessary looking for live music ambiance.
All of this priced were right.

“Delightful”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

Visited the Pest-Buda Bistro last night and a very pleasant evening it was.
The staff were friendly and professional and all spoke excellent English. The food was tasty and filling, and the Hungarian goulash soup was a delight.
Three courses with a couple of beers and sparkling water came in at under £50 for two and was well worth the money.
Just along the road from the Hilton Castle District and St Mathias Church, the Bistro is on the number 16 bus route and is well worth a visit.

“Good introduction to Hungarian cuisine”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

This was our first evening in Budapest and we were able to find this lovely restaurant in the Castle District. Even though it was midweek, it filled up quickly after we arrived. The layout was good and the staff very helpful in explaining options on the menu. All four of our group enjoyed their meals and the price seemed reasonable for what we had. We understand the company have 2 other restauarants in the area and one of our disappointments was that we did not have time to visit them as well. Generally excellent

“Tasty Hungarian classics”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

Enjoyed an early dinner with 6 friends and we all left full and impressed! Amazing daily specials, extensive menu and wine list! All 7 of us ordered different dishes and did a taste test of them all! Every dish, appetizer, and wine was phenomenal the atmosphere of the restaurant was classic European with beautiful linens, rustic style chairs, and dim lighting. We all could not have been happier with our dinner! Great choice, great service, great price!
