A quick coffee after a visit to the Great Market hall. One of us ordered an orange juice while the rest were still deciding. Rightly so, the waiter (who seemed to be serving the whole square alone), gave us some more time to decide while he served others. On his return, we made the mistake of not clarifying that we wanted our first order cancelled and replaced with another drink, together with the rest of the order. Neither did the waiter ask. He was struggling to communicate in English and looked totally stressed out. (We found Hungary to be generally not very English-speaking tourist friendly.) When the waiter brought the whole order including the first drink which should have been cancelled, we explained we did not want that and all he had to do was explain that he had already punched it in and that we should have cancelled it before. We would have understood. What did he do instead? He went into a serious fit, shouting and arguing that we had ordered the juice "in the first round". When I pointed out that that was no way to speak to clients, he went off in a huff, shouting "Ok. I pay" and then loudly banged his tray at the entrance to the cafe', to the amazement of all the clients there. Something must be wrong. Management, please take note - your employee seems to be overworked and on the edge of his nerves, to the pathetic detriment of the whole otherwise lovely experience.
