Set in the Fishermans Bastion in the Buda Castle area. You may need to book if you want the table by the main terrace overlooking the Danube.
The Paprika Chicken salad as starter was great and we both had the home made ravioli which was superb.
The apricot sponge with raisin ice cream deset simply meltrd, The Vylyan Rose was very nice, the service excellent, and the views stunning. Music as well, and the violinist will try and sell you his CD when he plays at your table. A memorable evening. Regards Gary Saunders

We dined here on our last night in Budapest and it was a memorable evening. We had booked only in the afternoon and luckily had a "first line" table for two outside on the Fisherman's bastion with magnificent views. We had 8.30 pm but I would book for 9pm or a little later so that the crowds of people who wait for the night lights to come on will be gone. After that time, small groups and individuals come to take photos and so it is not a hassle. It was only because we had the end table that we had some rude people literally breathing down my neck and had to ask a couple of times for people to back off. It's funny how some people with huge lenses on their cameras still have to try a squeeze another cm onto their shot. Is that over-compensation for something??

The Hungarian red wine recommended by the waiter was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal (we both had duck) and our desserts. We also tried Hungarian tokay which was interesting to compare to the Australian ones we had drunk. We had two courses, a bottle of red wine, two glasses of tokay and water and it was approximately $150 AUS which we found a reasonable price. Bread was provided and it was the freshest and softest bread we had eaten since we left home a month ago!

We had a great evening here and would thoroughly recommend the experience. We were staying at the Hilton (fantastic) so it was only a short walk in a very beautiful part of BUDApest.

The location is incredible and the food was very good. Price was a little high though you are getting a great evening ... provided you have better servers than we did. I did not find the staff very friendly or accommodating. The only person to say good night was one of the musicians..they were very enjoyable! I had a dirty water glass and I was shocked at the look the waiter gave me when I asked for a new glass. He took it away and didn't offer me a replacement bottle of water! Some tables had table clothes, some didn't. Totally changes the feeling when you are paying for such an evening and you have one of the 'bare' unimpressive tables. I would recommend the restaurant, but suggest you insist they treat you more like a valued customer. I felt they're taking advantage of their view.

This restaurant has great food and service. On top of that, it has a great view of the river and the city. Highly recommended.

We picked to go here for a special meal just as the sun was setting, having been around the day before and seen how it looked and then seen the views of Pest from a boat. We were not disappointed at all. Sitting outside right by the wall and looking out over the city, this is a great restaurant for a summers evening. The food was terrific and the atmosphere was calm. We hope to come back again. There's a musical accompaniment too, although they do try and sell you their CD.
