While touring the Castle District we found this restaurant by accident. It was my daughter's birthday and when we saw it we made a reservation right away. It was a Monday night so we were able to get a table by the window overlooking the Danube River and the magnificent parliament building. The staff was incredibly helpful. We had a sommelier and three waiters attend us. It was elegance and charm beyond compare. My daughter felt like a fairy princess. Would recommend the polenta with goat cheese. Book reservations in advance and ask for a window table. I let the wait staff know it was a birthday and they brought out a huge sparkler and four waiters sang a birthday song. Next the Attila Vadasz Gypsy violinist and cellist came to our table and serenaded my daughter with fabulous songs including "Love Story." It was dream.

The restaurant sits in the wall of the castle on the Buda side overlooking the Danube River. Make a reservation for a table next to the window. You will not be disappointed. It is one of the best views of any city - especially at night when the Parliament Building is illuminated. The service is impeccable with waiters who have been properly trained. We went for a glass of wine and stayed most of the evening - being entertained by a three piece musical group which played at the tables. Because we enjoy a full bodied red wine, we took the advice of the head waiter and ordered a Hungarian merlot. He even took us on a personal tour to the top of the turret to view the entire city below. We were not disappointed with any part of the experience and, if you venture to the Buda side, you won't be disappointed either.

After watching the quaint film Dean Spanley which uses the sweetest of Hungarian tipples, Tokaji to weave an extraordinary plot. I was finally fulfilling my desire for a Tokaji experience in this superb romantic setting in Budapest. We found this restaurant by chance at lunch time whilst out and about sightseeing. The style and elegance of this restaurant combined with the fabulous views definitely make it recommendable, I couldn´t stop gawping at the enormous chandeliers over our heads and as for the views....! The Sommelier was extremely kind and helped us choose a dreamy dry version of this famous wine and also had a few of his own stories to add to the mix! I would imagine this would be a beautiful place to go in the evening a little more dressed up than we were. Its an ideal place for a wedding proposal over looking the grand Danube River! The food unfortunately does not live up to its incredible surroundings its average and not a lot of it but beautifully presented and we were happy with the service we received.

On top of one of the Fisherman Bastion towers, with a perfect view.
Take a break on your visit to the castle and church and enjoy your mulled wine under the nice heaters!

This restaurant was recommended by the concierge of our hotel. He made the reservation, asked for a table next to a window and arranged a taxi. The trip from the city center up to the mountain, to the fisherman's bastion is just a short one. Arriving at the restaurant - in the dark - is just great. Hardly no people around, breathtaking views, a fairytail like bastion with towers. A beautiful church. The restaurant is located in the biggest tower of the castle area (see picture).

The service in the restaurant was impeccable. The wine excellent. The food was very good, but I would not rate it michelin star quality. The atmosphere in the restaurant, the music, the wine and the views will make this visit one I will not forget.

In total my son and I spend about 40.000 ft in this restaurant. The taxi trip from the city center cost about 3.900 ft one way in the evening. The taxi was arranged by the hotel. Do not, I repeat do not, find yourself a taxi on the streets, even if from ligitimate companies, the drivers are all crooks. Only taxis arranged by the hotel can be trusted.
