This was the first thing we signed up for when we started planning our Eastern European trip. My husband and I were so excited and looked forward to it for months. And it was so worth the wait. We booked on line and handled all of the details via e-mail. This worked perfectly. Agi was prompt and detailed with instructions and options. Word of advice: do not hesitate to make your reservations. We wanted the full day class, the one where you go the market first them go back to make your dishes, but that was already booked for the days we had allocated to Budapest, Also the market is closed on Sundays so that day is not and option to begin with. But not to worry Agi met with us on Sunday and she had already done the necessary shopping for our dish choices. Both her and her husband met us that morning in their flat, we had a nice meet and greet, then he had to leave for errands. That's when the cooking began. Agi is VERY well organized. We did all of the chopping and dicing while she explained about the ingredients and history behind the.dishes. She knew about the wines she paired and showed us where they grew. She had suggestion about touring the wine regions and a tour guide lead. We did everything to prepare the 3 dished we choose and by lunch time it was time to enjoy the fruits of our labor. I must say they were fabulous! We even got to take the leftovers back with us to enjoy again. I highly recommend this activity, it was a highlight of our month long trip.

We met Agi at the Great Market at 9AM and the next 6 hours were a blend of Hungarian delights. We tasted delicious foods in the market, saw hand made crafts, learned about the foods that make Hungarian cuisine unique. We visited all three floors of the market and experienced a part of Budapest that many tourists never see. Then we went to Agi's home to cook our Hungarian meal. Cucumber salad, Potato and sausage soup, Chicken paprika, and Poppy seed bread pudding were all on our menu. At her home we learned about Hungarian history, culture, and traditions.. Her passion for cooking and her desire to share traditional Hungerian cuisine was evident all day. This is truly an experience not to be missed while in Budapest.

The cooking class and tour that we had with Agnes was a wonderful experience. The market was amazing and Agnes' pride in her country and the knowledge of what was local was very much appreciated . The cooking class managed to suit two people with differing levels of experience and enthusium for cooking-both of us learned new techniques and hints for easier home cooking and we had a great time. I cannot stress enough how happy we were to have this experience and how much we were able to learn in the short time we had with Agnes about cooking and Budapest.

Thanks Agi for a most enjoyable time and delicious meal and a welcome home to be in. The slippers and apron felt like we were at a relatives for a wonderful afternoon of cooking, eating, drinking and having fun. Loved the shopping together and felt like I was with my daughter and family. It felt so great to be a part of the "real Hungary". Can't wait to do it again and this experience would be on my must do list especially to see your new kitchen when you find it! Best of luck and Aloha.

My Sister and I were looking for an experience that would help us experience the culture of our four grandparents who immigrated to America from Hungary in the early 1900's. We had an enchanting day with Agnes who met us in front of the Central Market at 9AM and explained all of the different foods available as we gathered the ingredients for our lunch. Some of the items we remembered from our childhood of family meals cooked by one of our Grandmothers, but there were also many items new to us that were not common in our household. We felt like we belonged in Hungary as it all felt very familiar to us, the language, the food, but Agnes made us feel like native Hungarians. What a wonderful time we had and I hope we can return to Budapest some day so we can spend another day with Agnes and cook another delicious meal. Make sure you include this in your Budapest itinerary - it was the very best part of our trip!
