We went there for dinner on a cold evening after strolling the Chain Bridge. We accidentally came by this place. After going down an old staircase we found out a very cosy restaurant with relaxing lighting and decoration. The staff was very polite. I had salmon with potato skins and a sause which was excellent! Freshly cooked and in a generous portion. The waitress suggested trying some local drinks after dinner which were great as well! We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the interior of this fabulous restaurant. There was a big company of Hungarians celebrating someone's birthday but there were also tables for two. All in all it was a delight and I strongly recommend it!

Pater Marcus is great for food and a drink. There is a great selection of Belgian beers and different types of foods. Our hotel was just above it which was handy as it only took 30 seconds to get there. The cray fish soup was a great starter as it had been nicely prepared and tasted terrific! The staff were friendly and always there when you needed a drink or anything else. Great value for money as well! I would definitely recommend!

We went on a recommendation of a friend & wasn't disappointed. Lovely Cray Fish soup to start & Veal Stew to follow. As for the beer, couldn't make up my mind what to have. The menu is large & caters for anyone's taste. Staff were friendly & the whole place had a great atmosphere.

Stumbled on Pater Marcus by chance while hunting for lunch, enjoyed possibly the best mushroom soup we have ever had followed by a tasting platter of meats and cheeses, washed it down with some excellent beer (of which they have a huge selection). Returned for dinner a couple of days later and again were not disappointed. Very busy with pre-Christmas parties but we were soon seated and enjoyed goulash and chicken stuffed with cheese and a cherry sauce, tried their own draft beer and a cherry fruit beer, both tasty. service was pleasant and efficient and not rushed despite how busy they were. Menu in English available and reasonably priced.

We stumbled across Pater Marcus Abbey on our walk home in Budapest on Saturday night, and were very happy to have done so!

The restaurant/bar is warm and friendly, welcoming even though we were quite late for dinner (after 9pm). The food was a mixture of Belgian and Hungarian food, and the beer list was excellent, with some very hard to come across belgian beers on the menu. The staff were attentive, the food quick and hot and tasty. The total bill came to around £30 for the two of us, and included drinks, starters, main and a shared dessert - great value!

As a note, we had the "meat plate" for dinner, which was exactly as it says - a plate of meat (with a small side of rice). Tasty, though!
