“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

We stopped here on a chilly Sunday afternoon, the bookshop alone is worth a visit with two floors of lovely books and some amazing wines. The jewel in it's crown though is the cafe on the second floor, with a cake selection to die for. We started with a light lunch before we spoiled ourselves with cake. The atmosphere is relaxing and opulent, a great way to treat yourself without braking the bank.

“A must visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013 via mobile

This has to be one of the best of the grand old coffee rooms to be found in Budapest. Don't expect to have an in depth conversation with your companions you will be too busy admiring the surroundings!

The decor needs no more words, but added to this are an excellent choice of coffees hot chocolates and teas and also an excellent snack menu, which is presented beautifully and also very tasty! Finally the last boxes to tick, the price and service are also excellent!

You will struggle to find better. While you are there check out the art gallery on the floor above for some stunning pieces of art to browse after your coffee

Take the escalator to heaven in this gorgeous cafe. The coffee is good, but the hot chocolate is better. The book store below even has a good selection of English books.

“Beautiful place - a must see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

If you are in Budapest this has to be on your to do list. The book store itself is very modern ( I had expected something quaint and traditional) but interesting all the same and I purchased a Hungarian cook book. However, the real draw lies upstairs where there is an amazing cafe with a wonderful setting. Extremely dramatic with a combination of a high, elaborate ceiling and low, comfy leather sofas the Alexandra book store Cafe provides a sumptuous setting for a spot of lunch or an indulgent cake & coffee break (we might have done both!).

Staff were very pleasant. Good variety on the menu and the dessert and cake cabinet was fab!

It is rare to find somewhere that ticks all the boxes - food, service, setting and atmosphere.
